Thanks a lot for being slow , atleast am trying to learn Danish and mostly I understand because of the way you pronounce it slowly and gives a person a chance to repeat ,well am very happy for you thanks a lot

Thank you a lot. This video is helpful for all those who want to learn Danish and try to improve their knowledge. The Danish pronunciation is difficult, but it sounds so harmonic to an Italian ear! Mange tak!

This is not clear as the speaker pronounces the same example in a single sentence differently. If you listen carefully to the words "laver" & "doven" he pronounces the "v" in same example first with "w" & then with a "v". So that is not satisfactory. What is correct or are both?

Why do first laver with a v and in the second sentence lawer with a w?

@@Danishmastery first you pronounce the v v, and then the second time you pronounce the v as a w. I think Danish is not your mother tongue. Isn't it?

@@mingosutu You’re talking about the pronunciation then, not the spelling. Completely different matter. Since you’re wondering, yes I am Danish (ridiculous assumption that I’m not). V’s often sound like “W” when pronounced fast, but slowed down it sounds more like a traditional “V”. Any other native speaker would tell you the same thing.

That's because when we normally speak, it's pronounced "w". "v" is the more official one. As a teacher, I'm obligated to give you both, even if the official one is hardly ever used.

Why is it that in Danish there's a big difference between the spelling and the pronunciation. For example, your write "IKKE" but you pronounce it "IGE". I mean, in the other two sister languages, Swedish and Norwegian, the difference between spelling and pronunciation is not that big as it is in the case of Danish. Is there a historical reason behind that?
