In my fiance's daughter's school (she's 7) they call it Gegenteil. She's in her second year of primary school. I don't know what they call it in Germany. They call it Elementary School in America. Her Opa, who's 74 is so angry at the German school system for making everyone be required to start taking English at 9 years old. He called it 'Mist,' which I didn't have any idea meant that bad of a thing until Stefan, Gustav's Schwager, told me "Mist, in German, doesn't mean 'a fog,' like it does in English." Well, Stephen King turned the word 'mist' into something kind of bad with his TV series, The Mist.

Why is "hoch" pronounced "hok" here? Also, it sounds like your r's are made by using the tip of your tongue. I thought it was supposed to be made in the throat?

@Sound Engineer Звукоинженер Well, actually, you would rather say "ein niedriges Gebäude" for a low building ^^. Usually, "tief" really means "deep". Only in some cases, like with "die Sonne steht tief", it can mean low ;).
