b"h when Hashem gave out language skills, i was either out of line or in the bathroom in march it will be 17 years that i made aliyah, and my ivrit level is less than a 3 year old israeli born child my reality is that an olah who speaks primarily english can survive quite well here in eretz israel

Literally it means an atonement for you same shoresh as Yom Kippur. Idiomatically it means something of great inestimable value so you say כפרה עליך kapparah ‘alekha you are awesome and valuable. The shoresh כ-פ-ר k-p-r has to do with “wiping away” “clearing off”

Its definitely the R's. If you listen to someone that is Israeli speak English, you can notice right away their accent because of that R sound. It might help you learn that how to make that sound listening to Israelis speaking English.

Congrats and way to go! Unsolicited opinion, but you don't need to pronounce the Reish the way Israelis do. You can, and you'll probably fit in a bit more, but there's a lot of evidence the correct Reish is like the rolling R is spanish, the way Mizrachi Jews and Lithuanian Jews generally pronounce the Reish. The Israeli Reish is really the polish Reish. I'm not saying avoid it, but using an American R is totally understandable to hebrew speakers.

Hebrew is a difficult language. I am here for 45 years and still make spelling mistakes! Modern Hebrew is different from Biblical or formal speech so it will take some time. English is widely spoken here but if you want to integrate, it is important to learn the language. Good luck!

Well... here is the translation: How cool and fun! I'm really waiting for you to arrive in Israel. I just want to meet you. I am very very moved by Gerim. I myself am a Chozeret Bitshuva in Breslav... I used to be a Hebrew teacher in Colombia and Brazil... so I know the difficulty and also what you face in learning the Hebrew language❤ I would be happy to help with whatever you want... to chat in Hebrew/English... to get to know the country... (I am also a tour guide)... help in finding the right place for you in Israel... I would love for you to contact me and talk about what I can do to help you❤😊 Chaya Kaufman
