A more literal translation for "aapse/aapko milkar khushi hui." (आपसे/आपको मिलकर खुशी हुई ।) is "I'm happy to meet you." or "I'm pleased to meet you", and you can use "aapse/aapko milkar achcha lagaa" (आपसे/आपको मिलकर अच्छा लगा ।) for "It's nice to meet you." Note that aapse/aapko (आपसे/आपको) is the formal version of 'you' and should be used as a form of respect. The less formal version of 'you', in the case of this sentence is tumse/tumko (तुमसे/तुमको) and an informal version is tujhse/tujhko (तुझसे/तुझको). But in general (not in the case of this sentence), the forms of 'you' are the following: aap (आप) - formal (used to address an elder, stranger, relatives or used as a form of respect.) tum (तुम) - less formal (used in an informal environment, among elder members in family, married friends, official environment among work colleagues etc.) tu (तू) - informal (used in an informal environment, close relationship and illiterate masses. I enjoy speaking Hindi. I also know Hindi because it has a lot of words that mean the same in Bengali.

I know hindi, but the hindi dialect I speak is different to pure hindi due to its isolation from india and it being mixed with different Indian/other languages. It's called fiji-hindi. It's a language made during the time when the indentured labour system was still in action where Indians were enslaved to work plantations in fiji . All I know about the language is that it's a mix of the aswanti and bojpuri hindi dialect, and due to the fact that all the indian labourers brought to fiji all spoke different languages, (urdu, punjab, hindi, etc) a collective language was formed as a means of communication. It also uses a bit of the Fijian language like "tavale" (meaning brother-in-law's, wife's brother) and other's. Well because of this fiji-hindi language and even though I can understand pure hindi to an extent because of fiji hindi, others from india who speak pure hindi clash with the fiji-hindi language and they can't seem to understand it even with the similarities of hindi. So even though I understand pure hindi through fiji-hindi, I can't speak it and I'd like to so that indians from idia can understand me. Also it would strengthen my understanding of fiji-hindi since it does borrow from the original hindi. Thanks for reading.
