I might have a good idea for your clients who just refuse to live without those hard copy manuals. I keep a folder (2 pocket folder) for every room in my house. Example, 1 for kitchen, 1 for master bedroom), etc. in the pocket I keep the manual for the room that the item lives in. Then file them on a shelf “book style”.

Chronic illness means that I have very little time with energy. I cannot plan in advance because my health is unpredictable. So I have to do so little at a time, maybe one box of stuff. But, if you keep at it you do see the difference. I cant get everything out. Maybe just one shelf and that's frustrating, but great when it's done. X

Dee, I have a chronic condition with pain, fatigue, fog, etc. I cannot clean by taking everything out because who knows when I would be able to clean it up? I’m better at using Dana White’s method of putting things away as you come to them. Is it more walking? Yes. Do I leave a mess behind, no. So I keep a trash bin, a donate box and anything that doesn’t go there goes to its home. Does that make sense? She has podcast “A Slob Comes Clean” if you are interested. Not all her methods work for those of us with chronic pain, but some do. For instance, I cannot do all my laundry in one day, but that’s ok. We all have to do what works for us. Good luck to you.

Definitely, my biggest prob is time and space. When I was single (25 yr ago) - no problem. Now, I can't complete anything in 1 day and working full + time, sometimes have to leave my piles for days. Then it becomes an even bigger mess that the whole family complains about. If I could get off and get rid of my family for a week, I think I could make real progress.

I find it helps when I focus on a small area at a time, like a single "level" of a shelf. Not even so much as to declutter and organise in one go. But declutter each shelf one day at a time then organise after the decluttering of the whole shelf. That's the only way I can manage to get anything done with young kids around.
@TS-sh8xo

Lol that’s the way I used to TRY to declutter. But I came across a slob comes clean and she has a way to declutter without making a mess. Sounds crazy to me but I tried it and it worked for me. Instead of making piles, you put things where they belong as you go. All you need is a donation box and a trash bag. If you start in say a closet, you look for trash and that goes in the bag and anything you don’t want goes in the donation box and if it belongs somewhere else, you go and put it there right now! This way if you have to stop this second, all you have out is the trash bag and donation box! Added bonus, you’ll get your steps in!

Hi Kay, I’m writing a book so keeping research papers sorted and filed as I go is a challenge. I work at my dining room table as I don’t have other space to work and it’s hard keeping it tidy - though I try hard. I’ve been decluttering and organising for four years and my habits have changed enormously and I have decluttered a huge amount of things in that time. I’m one of those people who needs to see things otherwise I forget about them. My husband is the opposite. He has more stuff than me but it’s all put away. Thanks for your great channel. I'm getting better at it, though, so there's light at the end of the tunnel! The paper I have is now organized into manageable categories, even so far as "small scraps" and "large scraps"! All the papers I use in mixed media and journaling used to be all jumbled together. Now I have to start on the pens. You had a lot of pens and other writing instruments (LOL) but would you believe me if I told you I have about 20 times what you had in that container? So I will definitely be watching more of your videos! TFS :)

My biggest challenge is getting rid of my scrapbooking supplies. It was a hobby I once enjoyed but no longer. There’s just so much of it and it pains me to think how much money I poured into it. It’s taken me literally years to sell or donate a little at a time when I can muster up enough time or energy to deal with it.

zuzu's petals yes, I’ve been giving stuff away to all the school teachers I know, selling some, and donating the rest. Still a slow but steady process.

Thank you the macro organizing and taking everything out as the first step was very helpful! My issue is sentimental attachment to things and not being able to give them away or throw them away 😭🥴🤣 and then I get overwhelmed and give up half way 🥴🥴 gotta work on it though ☺️
