What did you do when you polished up all the edges of the lettering at around the 10:10 mark? That part is what I'm becoming frustrated with.

I think it's Pathfinder -->Unite. He's merging them and clipping off the undesired corners

it feels weird to response in 3 years comment haha! He used the rectangle shape to polish them since the line doesn't affect wrongly like the pen tool do! :)

At about 10:00 when you fast forward through some "smoothing out" of corners and such, what are you doing to get the angles at the ends of the lines just right? I'm working on some lettering at the moment, but can't figure out how to flatten the angles at the tops/bottoms of my letters. For example, when I create a "Y", the lines at the top two points are angled when I want them to be flat. Does this make sense? Sorry if that's a bit confusing.

Hi, I've been searching and searching and can't find anything. I have a logo I put together using a font of 2 letters. My idea is to just have an outline of the logo. I used photoshop to stroke the layers and then delete the fill inside the stroke but the quality is not that good and the stroke has holes and is not too smooth. I am new to illustrator but figured this will be the software to create the outline without the fill of the text logo. can you help me?

@@thelovelyvalc a bit later but you can unite anchor points by selecting them with the Direct Selection tool (white arrow), go to Object > Path > Join (or just Ctrl + J), then to flatten them you can use a rectangle and cut them with the Pathfinder tool.
