Best knitting tutorial!!! I’ve watched several today and have gotten so frustrated. Wanted to quit but said let me watch one more. And the one more was this one and I got it! It’s the cross of the needles that makes it make more sense to me! Crossing them like a cross instead of like an X. Thank you thank you!!!

Hello, I’ve probably watched 100 or more videos on youtube. This is (& thumb cast on) are the easiest ones I’ve found! Thank you! I am trying to re-teach myself. Your video is the closest thing to the way, my mom tried to teach me (I’m left handed & she’s right) we didn’t get very far. I’m trying to identify the lady’s dialect in this video, she doesn’t say her name (from Celtic knitting designs) ? Whoever you are , you’re fantastic! My mom is from Donegal , we live in Chicago. Anyway, keep making these they’re great! Thank you, Colleen

Well my circular needles by Boye are size 10 and I think they're probably about one third the size, width, diameter whatever... I don't really speak Knittinese. Lol. I went and bought some needles and I am determined to knit today, right now, needles ready, and I am so happy about it, if I had a tail, I would wag it! Now, let's play monkey see, -> monkey do! I am ready! [Edit -> my needles are 5.75, so that's about like an I crochet hook, I'm thinkin'. ]

Ohhh they might be the old English size knitting needles, modern British ones are in MM and American ones are a different size too. If you google knitting needles sizes you should find comparison charts! Happy knitting xx

@@FlockAndFern Oh, dear, I couldn't care less about naming the size (but they are exactly 5.75mm)! Just from eyeballing it, they are the size I want for my project, which is about as medium as it gets. I don't need big sticks to begin, was my point. I don't see why big/chunky is a good way to learn. I don't keep track of sizes' names anyway. I look and see if the stick is the same size I want my stitch to be, and use that. Of course, my mind has already considered the yarn I'll use and how it will drape, which is why I've chosen the size of hook or needle that I have. I also don't read patterns, but I know how to make clothes, so I just crochet, or Tunisian, or knit the piece until it's shaped like it will go together as if I had cut it from a pattern. I still haven't learned knitting increase/decrease; like for arms/sleeves.. much can be hidden by a seam, after all, but, I will soon. I'm practicing my tension balance. I have watched tons of videos before and since this one, and have learned so much. I have discovered that the easiest way to knit is Eastern orientation Russian Continental. It's kind of cool doing a knit stitch on the back side of my needles and doing the exact same stitch movements on the front for my purl. I am going to learn Portuguese knitting next. There's a different way of doing stitches where you use your thumb to move the yarn where it needs to go, and may prove to be and even easier way to knit. I have tried lever knitting but I don't have a holster so it's a little difficult, but I took to it well.

I hate to tell you but this is not an accurate way to knit the thumb method - look how loose it is. To do it accurately you need to go into the wool on the thumb and loop it round so that it becomes a firm stitch. This is not meant kindly but hopefully to help you.
