I don't want to be one of those "influencers" whose only mission on KZfaq is getting free stuff to fly once and then sell off. I want to help other people reach their own goals. Free stuff is nice too, though.

I glued some wood support in to the canopy bay on the sides and while the glue has dryed I have pushed the nose a bit up, so when there is a weight in the nose the canopy won't open. Now with every landing even some harder landings the canopy never has fallen off or even opened. I just used some 3mm thick plywood.

Hi Jon, I just got one of these and so far I’m enjoying it. Just a heads up , the comment you made about CG and stalling is incorrect (sorry) moving the flying CG forward increases stall speeds, (wing angle of attack is more accurate but that’s another discussion) many RC models do seem to fly better with the CG a little forward, but you should always stay within the prescribed CG range for each model. It is a range not a single point. Going beyond (fore or aft) will cause different problems in flight. Too far forward and you may run out of elevator authority, to far aft and the the plane will become unstable and potentially unflyable. By the way, very nice precision landings, very narrow runway and you landed close to center line… I fly on a 25 ft wide runway and you’d be surprised at how many pilots have trouble staying on it during landing
@TwoBrosRC
@TwoBrosRC 2 жыл бұрын
Could you clarify how you find it incorrect? Moving the CG backward causes it to be much more likely to laterally depart from controlled flight when it stalls - e.g. yawing when stalling instead of simply dropping a wing or nosing down. The 70mm F-35 suffered from this, as did the 70mm Viper. Appreciate the feedback!
@chettaylor7550
@chettaylor7550 2 жыл бұрын
@@TwoBrosRC Maybe I misunderstood what you were saying but it sounded like you were implying an aft CG would increase the likelihood of a stall. Except for an extreme aft CGs that would be incorrect. Yes, moving the CG too far back will make the airplane do what you said in your reply, that is it will become unstable and if it does enter a stall and a resulting spin it is very unlikely that it will be able to recover since it would be difficult to get the nose down for recovery, but it doesn’t make a stall more likely, that is unless the CG is so far back that you can’t keep the nose down. Although we usually refer to stall speeds ( in full scale airplanes) the reality is an airplane (wing) can stall at any airspeed, it is the angle of attack (AOA) relative to air flow that determines when a wing will stall, each wing type/shape/camber/ wing loading will have a different AOA. I’m not an aerodynamic engineer but I’m a commercial rated pilot and this is one of the things they make sure you understand when you learn to fly. Didn’t mean to be critical, or disrespectful just wanted to clarify a topic that is sometimes misunderstood in our RC community. Don’t need to take my word for it (I’m only covering the basics) if you’re interested to learn more, find a local airport/ flight school and talk to a flight instructor,they’re a great source
@TwoBrosRC
@TwoBrosRC 2 жыл бұрын
That isn't incorrect though. Rearward CG makes the pitch authority more sensitive which makes it much easier to hit critical AoA and experience an accelerated stall. I wasn't trying to say that you're going to stall easily if you have a rearward CG by default - just that the stick movements you'll put in will make it more likely to hit critical AoA. Like I said, I appreciate the feedback! No need to apologize.
@chettaylor7550
@chettaylor7550 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jon, I think we’re saying the same thing just a little differently, I agree, an aft CG does make the plane sensitive to control inputs and thus unstable. I’ve only flown my F-5 a few times and so far I haven’t noticed any bad habits, looking forward to flying it some more. Take care, Chet

thx alot for the good content, very helpful! I am working up the courage to buy the F-5 as a second jet..😬😀 still am a little awed by its serious power.. but widely spaced landing gear in the back and flaps should make landing easier, doesn't it? 🤔

Follow this guide to a T and you should be fine. It's a very heavily loaded airplane and will literally fall out of the sky if you don't approach with power.
@ali92124
@ali92124 2 жыл бұрын
Your ESC cut out may also be due to Low Voltage Cutoff (LVC) in your ESC. If the battery has a high internal resistance, it can drop the output voltage significantly under high load.
@TwoBrosRC
@TwoBrosRC 2 жыл бұрын
LVC is disabled so that can't possibly be the issue here. Batteries have low IR as well. I wouldn't fly them if they didn't.

Thanks Dale! I brushed it on. The results aren't perfect but it's a foam jet that comes imperfect out of the box. The lack of pure mirror shine on it will actually add to the realism because no jet has perfectly shiny surfaces.

Would it be fine to land like an F16. So, coming in with a high AoA to bleed airspeed so long as I'm balancing it with some throttle? I have one coming in next week and landing always worry me more than the flight. Thank you.
@TwoBrosRC
@TwoBrosRC 3 ай бұрын
Nope. It'll stall out and drop a wing. Definitely don't recommend that at all. It has a narrow range of alpha it tolerates which narrows further with dropped flaps. We highly recommend following the guide because it's a demonstrably proven way to land without damaging the airframe. Plus the high AoA, should it even work, would lead to a tail strike from the very low wheelbase.
