The EverSewn QE has an automatic thread tension built in to each stitch pattern and includes a manual adjustment. In the two years I've been using my QE, I've never had to adjust the tension b/c it does an amazing job setting it automatically.

I had to laugh because I just used painter's tape to quilt a satin pillow. I sampled the purple air erase and it didn't look like it was coming out so I went with the tape. It took a while but finally the ink disappeared. It's good to educate oneself on all the techniques out there so we can choose the best option for the work we're doing. You're welcome. I really appreciate all of you folks who take the time to make tutorials.

I'm late watching but want to thank both Gina Tell and FQS for another great video. I have the clips added to my cart for my next checkout. When quilting diagonal lines I mark using a ruler and something like a hera marker. That seems to work for me but will keep in mind using painter's or masking tape. I would be afraid though that I would go off course and sew on the tape. That could be a problem!

Hi, great tutorial, but I was wondering why you start at the outside edge, and continue on? I was taught to start from the middle and work to edges.
@GinaTellThreadGraffiti
@GinaTellThreadGraffiti 2 жыл бұрын
I don’t like to see the starts and stops with straight line quilting in the middle of the quilt, plus they could pull out after washing, it’s best to have fewer starts and stops for that reason so I go from one edge to the other, but you do whatever you feel comfortable with 🙂

Thank you Gina! This is great! I was wondering about pulling up the bobbin thread before beginning to have both threads on top? I was told to do this but notice you didn't worry about that. Do I need to do this?
@DH-qz2so
@DH-qz2so 4 жыл бұрын
I normally pull up my bobbin thread, but the reason she may not have is because she starts 'off' the quilt top, in the batting...which all gets cut off anyways...any nests that happen will be cut off...
@GinaTellThreadGraffiti

Yep, the other comment here nailed it, since I’m starting outside the edge of the quilt it doesn’t matter, I only do this if my thread breaks right in the middle of the quilt. Thanks for watching!😍🧵✂️

How much are you pushing it through and how much are you just letting the feed dogs feed it through?
@GinaTellThreadGraffiti
@GinaTellThreadGraffiti 4 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say I am really "pushing" because I am using a walking foot, it really helps feed the quilt through at a consistent pace, so you keep nice stitches. However if you choose to do a large quilt, it will be a little heavier, and there may be a little push and pull required.

If you used painters tape, or masking tape it should pop right off, I would use the point of a seam ripper to pull them up, and then maybe a tweezers also, depending how small the pieces are. Good luck!

@GinaTellThreadGraffiti

You can use anything, in my beginning sewing days I would used a tape measure on the floor, once you get your first line of tape on, you can just measure out from there. I have even cut cardboard the exact size I want and used that.

@GinaTellThreadGraffiti
@GinaTellThreadGraffiti 3 жыл бұрын
There are times I do not use the clips, I think it's just personal preference really. In the beginning I usually start with the clips because that is the time you have the most bulk, but as you reach the edges you don't have as much bulk to deal with. Also, if you are working with a mini quilt, or a small baby quilt it might be faster to not use the clips, if you are in a hurry. Hope that helps, thanks for watching! :)
