Any other hockey players out there struggling on the transition from hockey skates to roller skates? I'm used to rollerblade "inline" skates, but my God, roller skating is so so much different. I experience so much lower body fatigue due to the additional weight that roller skates have

The main thing in the beginning is to make sure you are bending your knees. If your legs are too stiff and you lose balance or maybe hit an unexpected obstacle you are more likely to fall. With your knees at least somewhat bent you are able to save yourself way easier. Also keep your head and shoulders up looking forward, no looking straight down at your skates no matter how cool they look. Have fun skating everyone and I hope everyone just starting to learn sticks with it and enjoys their newfound hobby. These videos are so helpful.

I started with toe stops easy!

I LOVED doing lemon drops as a kid. I never knew there was a word for them. I used to rollerblade, not really skate, but god, I miss it.

Pushing off of toe stops is sometimes a good way to gain some speed from a stand still and learning where and how toe stops work but it's really easy to fall on your face if you do it too much especially at any speed

Always keep a slight bend in your knees and lean forward slightly when learnng

Ok can I say something, because I have SO much respect for ice skaters/roller skaters bc I tried roller skating recently for the first time in my LIFE and it was SO hard!!! I fell at least 20 times and it still hurts! It was so hard I swear I was holding on for dear life bc it was my first time. AND THEY DIDNT HAVE LIKE ANY THING TO HOLD ONTO
