You call with a small pair to set mine against players who can't find the fold button and who aren't aware of what you are trying to do. The hand analysis is that simple, imo. From that perspective, raising flop and/or turn with little to no bluffs is totally acceptable. That said, in theory fold pre. Edit: "I guess the theme of the show is don't fold sets when you're getting a price." Fantastic advice.

I agree with Bart about raising the flop small. My first thought was raising to $65 or $70 and nobody is ever folding AK, KQ, KJ at these stakes, especially if they have backdoors. The stacks are fairly deep as well and you want to get some money asap. Without seeing the river results, I would put SB has A6 clubs or 66 and LJ has KJ. LJ wouldn't tank with AK or AA, JJ, or 66 (both of which probably shove turn). I disagree with Bart about SB shoving A6cc on the river - the guy already played the hand weirdly so you can't discount him having a hand that "doesn't make sense".

At 7:40 caller says, and Bart seems to agree, that because it's shorthanded, people will open tighter than they usually would given their position. For example he states LJ is "not as late an open" as it would have been with 9 players, and so will open a little tighter. Isn't it true though that what matters for deciding how tight or how loose to first-in isn't how far to the left of the BB you are, but rather how far to the right of the button? In other words, Lojack is Lojack no matter how many players there are. That's what I've always thought and seen others say, anyway.
@blakefredrickson6506
@blakefredrickson6506 Жыл бұрын
Theoretically you could actually argue the opposite: you might want to be tighter in a full ring LJ position compared to a shorthanded LJ position. This is because 3 players have already folded, and those 3 players will be slightly weighted towards having lower cards given the fact that they folded. Which gives slightly more weight to the players behind you having higher cards. It’s probably an insignificant distinction though. You certainly shouldn’t be playing tighter from a shorthanded LJ compared to a full ring LJ. BUT it’s live poker, not theoretical poker. I think a full ring LJ might play looser simply because he doesn’t get to play as many pots in full ring and he’s bored of folding.

Bart, if you don’t think A6cc shoves then you also don’t have KJ in their range. So what value range would you assign to SB that is worse than 44? What bluffs do they have? You made an argument that supported a fold yet you still clicked the call button
@fenikstechnologies1173

He probably just forgot to mention live poker river snap shoves on draw heavy boards that miss are many, many times missed draws turned into bluffs. Live low stakes punt off stacks constantly like this. He also said 66 was the only hand he’d expect to lose to, not that it’s the only hand he can have. That’s a huge difference. If he can only have 66, it’s a fold. He’s not gonna go over all 8176 hands that live low stakes guys punt with so that people on the internet won’t “gotcha” him.

What about AT on the turn from the SB? Its a hand that could easily flat the 4x LJ open pre, call flop 5x C-BET with over card (they do have high SPR) snap call towards the nut straight. Especially ATs of clubs or A of clubs in offsuit AT. Other snap calls are Jacks trying to set mine (6 combos). A2 through A10 of clubs (9 combos). Also King Jack (9 combos). 44s are only beaten by 24 combos KK, AA, JJ, and 66. Of which half easily would be all in pre. 44s beat KJ (9 combos), KQ (12 combos), AK (9 combos), AJ (9 combos) and all Ax of clubs (9 combos). 48 combos beat vs 24 we lose to. Getting 6 to 1 on the call. Have more than the needed like 14% equity against this range. Call! Edit: Yes KJ! Yeah buddy!

Ok. I stopped before the reveal. There are real set possibilities when it comes to the small blind. Also many two pair combos (AK, KJ or AJ). I'd have to call because I'm not good enough to fold a set on this board. I just don't believe Q10 floats unless it's Q10 of clubs. But that's a possibility.
@adamseidel9780
@adamseidel9780 Жыл бұрын
This is an absolute snap call all day. SB COULD have 6s, I guess, but I’m skeptical we don’t see them start blasting on an earlier street. Same with jacks. If they played Ks or AA that tricky, cest la vie. LJ has the Jack sets and probably the six sets more often plus the aces and kings. You also cover LJ, which is nice, so you can recoup a bit even if you lose there. Bottom line, when we hit the set on a board this disconnected, we are just piling with no regrets unless a painfully obvious draw comes in. I’m internally doing a dance that both guys called here because I’m felting two guys with like AJ and KJ a whole hell of a lot. You lose a decent amount here… but you mostly win.

I can see folding to a club on the river especially against 2 people calling a huge turn bet. Very likely at least one is on a strong flush draw. It's very dumb to be doing that with a broadway draw which is what came in because if you make your broadway with a club, you are still very likely to be beat. Unless you were beat on the flop, you pretty much like this runout. I would have called the river as well.

@@rsandoval9203 You're talking utter shlte, but ignorance is bliss I guess. The problem with calling in the CO with 44 to a LJ open is you have no idea whether the SB and BB are going to 3 bet, and if they are half decent they are going to widen their 3 bet range in that spot to pick up the dead money. It's bad poker to call in that spot, but especially when it's your very first hand at the table and you have no idea who you are playing against. The SB or BB could be very aggro players 3 betting heavily, the LJ could be very tight meaning you're dominated against his opening range. And I tend to play online mostly so your predictions are wrong, but I understand what a 4bb open is. But you carry on belittling people online with your moronic bs and everyone is happy. Sure I understand the distribution but at the end of the day we're talking about rec players here you didn't provide whether these two gentlemen were professionals or not. In my opinion from an exploitative standpoint I can put depending on the opponent on Queen 10. And then the over call I mean how many times you going to be good here against pure rec players especially at the stakes people call down the book isn't always right and you're going to get cleaned out constantly calling down
@AT-bw4cm
@AT-bw4cm Жыл бұрын
Q10 of clubs should be the only straight for sb (and would the average rec float this hand after hero calls?). Offsuit Q10 are not getting implied odds to call turn. If they are calling Q10 off, then you have to pay them off. If they are constantly making -ev calls then you will make up for their luck in other hands. Nothing else makes sense. When a play doesn't make sense, you should always call being at the top of your range. I would give LJ 5 combos of sets because most sets will go allin on the turn (maybe less because he had the clock called on him on the river so I would discount set of A) vs. 9 combos of AK and maybe a few combos of KJ. Don't forget the math. LJ calls for less and hero is getting nearly 5 to 1 on a call. I would say this is an easier call with recs because a pro will never donk jam this river.
