Thank You! I wonder if you might do a video on different lighting types and settings (I'm not sure what IES light is)..? Also I've has some occasional trouble when I render with certain light either not showing up or turning out very spotty, full of speckles (I believe they're called 'artifacts'). I've mostly used 'Light Emitter' material on the fake emitter setting, and not regular 'Spot' or 'Point' lights due to them not seeming to show up in render. What is an optimal power and efficacy setting to put the lights on, at least for very bright lights, not just dim..?

I have one more quick tip to share with all... In photoshop, add a layer in overlay mode, then use a white brush to draw over an area and see how the spot you drew will come to life as if you have pointed a spot light to this area...I use it mostly to fake lights when I lack them in rendering...In doing so in Photoshop, I cut down on time in 3D renderings... Alex, as an advanced SketchUp user having been using it since it was released and successfully completing many projects over the years, I am rethinking and relearning how to do everything in SU. I have many complex projects to complete in SU this coming year but decided to take a break and develop a solid set of skills targeted toward organized, efficient and quality modeling. I am about two weeks into my SketchUp School subscription and am already light years ahead of the "advanced" skills that I have developed over 20 years. Your teaching methods are fantastic and I only which I had started learning SketchUp the right way sooner. I also photograph real estate and have a good understanding of light and how to use it in the real world, so I am looking forward to learning SU rendering from you, but only after I relearn everything else.😎🤙

I am a 13 year old. I obviously don't know how to use it, because I am just getting started with Sketch Up. My Uncle offered me a job on doing Interior Designs for his clients in Dubai, because of it, I get a living for my life. I'd like to thank you for what you have taught us so far, and thanks for making Sketch Up easier than any other applications.

Love your videos. I think the lighting aspects are obviously the most important section. Love this method approach. Another important process in rendering is knowing when to stop. Just like in painting, there is a point of diminished returns. I find that when your scene imbues you with a feeling or emotional response, you will say something like. "That's what I'm talking about!" or "Now we're talkin'" or something to that affect. The emotional response is when you are close. That's when you save camera angles and scenes and effects arsenals. Hit that render button!

Photography means painting with light by definition. Great approach and very simply explained! The most useful tip? Probably setting up the exposure in the camera, can save you hours thinking the light could be too bright or too dimmed.. I liked the detail of the brush tool over the lamp!

Hey man. Excellent video, thank you. It really helps to simplify the mental approach to rendering. The part that I find more interesting is the Lighting, because the first step is, as you've said, not so critical as you could choose any rendering tool. The last step is the easiest to me, as I'm very experienced in PS. Again, thank you for this.

I just want to take what I can see in my minds eye and put it on paper, but a complete novice at this kind of tool. I like you style in sharing information. Thank you.

This is a new level for me in Sketchup, I am actually a lighting designer. Most useful part of this video was getting an idea of the work flow. Which is something I love about your videos. Some of this is clear, but I'm new enough to Sketchup to be a little confused about your mention of an extension? Where can I get more info on that? regards, JB

Glad you had already learned the approach in this video. Curious to find out: Was it through trial and error? Or did you learn this approach elsewhere?
