Hello David, I have a northern white pine and wondering if I have missed the re-potting window? I would really appreciate a response as I do not want to loose this tree.

You don't repot pines in the middle of the summer? I learned that they repot black pines in Japan around June. I repotted one in late June last year and it seems ok so far.

Hello David, you mentioned you have already started repotting your deciduous trees. How do you protect them from cold overnight temps? Do you place them in a greenhouse to recover or are they ok out on the benches? Thanks!

I'm sorry but someone needs to explain this to me...if the tree basically sits in rocks, where does it get its nutrients from? People call it soil, but its really not!?! Or am I missing something? I just don't understand why trees grow in dirt (soil) in nature but in bonsai its basically granular matter? Please help me understand. And when you are making videos David please remember you are dealing with newbies.

Helps make more fine roots and allows more oxygen to the roots. Also if you use just dirt you will have a chance of root rot due to water retention.

Do you pick your butt when you go to the bathroom as well as this...the staple holds the screen DOWN better this way plus it's easier to remove next repot. Look at ALL the other vids, especially from Japan. Red clay or earth, whatever. The Japanese call them red balls. Keep going David. Steve.

Great video David, thanks for it. You gave some little details about things we all know, but not so far as I realize now. I got a question, minute 12:30 you have added three different spoons, Osmocote fertilazer, the last one mycorrhiza (endo - Ecto?) but what is the third one?
