Indonesian is actually one of the easiest language to learn. But not so fast, here comes the catch, Indonesian affixes is notoriously tricky and it comes with lots of variations. You don't need to master Indonesian affixes but it is recommended since it's the things that makes our language unique. Oh yeah, and also, Indonesia is a country with lots of regional language. More than 700 regional languages, each with different dialects and slangs. Different provinces, cities or towns, different ethnicities or tribes then you will encounter brand new languages! But fear not! We still can speak Indonesian language since it's our national language aka lingua franca! Though you'll notice different accents in each individuals, sometimes their Indonesian might inaudible and unclear. Younger generations Indonesian will help you! They usually more educated with each of them speaks clear, audible, formal Indonesian unlike older generations. Some of them could also speak English and maybe other foreign languages! Don't be shy! Ask for some help! We Indonesian love to help and talk to new people.

@@cateatinrat78 I want to give my opinion here, I hope you’d consider mine: Standard Indonesian will not, ever, vanish. Because it’s a must to use standard indonesian in many conditions, such as in news, articles, speech, formal situations, business activities, etc. By saying standard indonesian will die soon, it (explicitly) can mean that FORMAL situation will vanish, and it won’t. Language is something liquid, changing over generations. Informal indonesian changing over time, as well as with all the languages all over the world. And that’s the point of Standard Indonesian. Government make the standard version of Indonesian, as a benchmark or rules for the language. So we still can look at the standardized rules as our compass, no matter if the language keep changing. Changing is inevitable. It goes the same with language. But Standard Indonesian won’t ever die like you said.

Standard bahasa indonesia is very easy. The grammar and structures are very straightforward. No gramtical gender, no rules of tenses, no verb Conjugation, phonetic pronunciation, no tonal pronunciation, ... I think the only tricky part of learning Bahasa Indo is prefix-suffix, it's kind of complicated. But it's standard bahasa indonesia. Standard Bahasa indonesia only helps you in formal situations. When it comes to daily conversation, we speak a lot of slang. There are hundreds of local or regional languges in indonesia, and those strongly influence the way Indonesian people speak. So slang varies from place to place.

Example: "lu" suka telor gorengnya gak? "gue" bikin sendiri Translation: Did you like the fried eggs? I made it myself. Example for "gue" = "gue" suka kok, kurang garem aja. Terima kasih banyak, I am converted to Islam and want to learn languages many Muslims speak. Alhamdulillah I've learned Arabic (Fusha/MSA), Moroccon dialect (darija maghribiyya), Turkish, and now I want to start with Indonesian. I prefered learning Indonesian over Farsi, because I've always loved the gentleness of Indonesian and Malaysian people. Even among muslims they say that the kindest muslims are from Indonesia/Malaysia. Love to all Indonesians (muslims and non-muslims alike) from Belgium.

From foreigner's perspective, indonesian language is the most gentle, indonesian people are kind and warm to foreigners if you compare it in another countries (based on quora and my foreign friends). I mean it's easier for foreigners to find a gentle person than in other countries. And also Indonesia is the most generous country in the world according to World Giving Index.

I was moving to Indonesia 13 years ago. I have been learn about Indonesian's culture. Like there's a bunch of words you need to say: If someone help you: say "Terima Kasih" you can add "Banyak" in "Terima Kasih" cause that means you are really" thankful to those who help you out. If you accidently do something bad & not on purpose, say: - "Saya Minta Maaf" that means " I am sorry" or you can say " Saya Minta Maaf Atas Kesalahan Saya" that is more longer and it means " I apologize, it's my fault". That's all hehe. Semangat belajar Bahasa Indonesia bagi yang mempelajarinya sekarang! Well done everyone!

Kenapa bahasa Perancis tulisannya dan pengucapannya tidak nyambung sama sekali? Tulisannya "croissant" bacanya "kwasong".
@_nadyne
@_nadyne 11 ай бұрын
Demikian, terima kasih.

Sorry, if i have bad english grammar or something in writing. I'm Indonesian, Bahasa Indonesia is little bit tricky if you compare it how speak like a Native. Example, "I go to school" in English then in Bahasa usually it will be translate as "Saya pergi ke sekolah" and that was right. I = Saya, go = pergi, to = ke, school = sekolah. But if you speak like native it will be little different if someone asked "Where are you go?" you answer "I go to school" and it can be means "Saya pergi ke sekolah" in formal or informal situation, then native can answer many answer of that questions like "saya mau ke sekolah" (i want go to school), but if the answer "saya ke sekolah" it will translate to english maybe like "I to school"(?) i think or i realize that is wrong in English(?). Learn Bahasa is fun like I learn English. For Bahasa learner, you don't need to afraid of speak Bahasa, we are as native speaker can understand even though you have wrong pronunciation or tenses. Bahasa Indonesia is easy until you go with slang. Examples "Don't be mad' (Jangan marah) and Indonesian slang will be "Jan baper". You can't found "Jan" in every dictionary or module language you have and baper can be mean if someone react or feel very sensitive about their feeling. If you have mastery of Bahasa Indonesia slang, you are In high level learning of Bahasa, maybe you will be a Native LOL. Little Note : English - Bahasa Indonesia I - Saya (Formal .e.g : Business, Work. Very Polite) I - Aku (Informal. e.g : Speak with friend, family, your crush. Polite) I - Gua (Informal. e.g : Speak with Bestfriend or friend. Not polite and don't try this in Business situation or in your family) Semangat belajar Bahasa.

I've never heard "kembali" used to reply to "thank you"... People might formally say "terima kasih kembali" or simply "sama-sama". Also, whether formal or informal, most people won't say "apakah" when they ask questions. They'd just omit it and say the statement out loud with a questioning tone. Unless you're trying to emphasize your words, well... In that case you might emphasize "apakah". So, formally: "(Apa) Anda bisa (ber)bahasa Inggris?" --> word in parentheses is optional. When emphasizing formally: "APAKAH Anda bisa berbahasa Inggris?" --> This would be appropriate in stage presentation, but not in formal dialogs since it would make you sound upset or challenging. Informally: "(Kamu) bisa bahasa Inggris, nggak?" The word in parentheses is optional. It means "you". If you want to sound more slangy ("Jakartans"), you could replace "kamu" with "lo". In general, just follow what people say and ask them what it means.

For information mostly Indonesian people introduce their self by saying "Halo namaku (insert your name)" (informal) And indonesian people not say it like "selamat siang" just say it like "siang" that's for example. (informal) And indonesian people not really say it "selamat tinggal" they usually say it as "Dah" or "dadah" (informal) In English sound mostly similar as "duh" but using "a" and say "berbahasa" as "Bahasa" (informal) And if they say "nggak" it means "no" Tidak = nggak Btw I'm from Indonesian

Oh, it's easiest language in the world. I am multilingual (Arabic, Dutch, etc). No past-present-future tenses. Alphabets are Latin just as Spanish/Portuguese/Italian/Dutch/German alphabets. No gender. Yet, today formal language of Indonesia is mix of all languages around the world, you'd find words of Dutch, French, Portuguese, Arabic, Sanskrit, Turkish, Chinese, Japanese, etc. Yet, We spell clear thick vibrating "R". Menurutku untuk yang pengucapan You're welcome di Indonesia yang versi formal itu bukan cuman "kembali" aja lebih baik di tambahkan "Terima Kasih kembali" atau "Sama-sama" juga bisa kok di situasi formal. Ada banyak cara mengucap "You're welcome" di Indonesia, salah satunya "Oke pak/buk/mas/kak/nama orang" atau "Baik pak/buk/mas/kak/nama orang". Intinya sih kurang enak kalau cuman bilang "Kembali" sebagai "You're welcome". Silahkan balas komentar jika punya pendapat lain.
