It sounds like they're using all three dialects munster Connacht and ulster. Also look up the dictionary Irish dictionary foclóir. And it will give you all three dialects I use it a lot.

This could be helpful, but I feel like there’s a lot of small errors, for example; for ‘fine’, we would say ‘go breá’ (guh bra) instead of just breá. Also, in some cases, we would say ‘is ea’ (sha) instead of ‘tá’. You would also use ‘seo é’ when showing a singular object, for example, ‘Seo é mo sciorta’ ( shuh ay muh shcur-ta) would mean ‘this is my skirt’. I’m sorry if this is wrong, I’m Irish though, so I thought this may have been helpful.😊🇮🇪

Whilst this is a helpful resource there are errors within it that I have never seen in my years of Irish classes growing up, for example v is not a letter that is used, unless it is a loan word but even still would come from a "mh" or a "bh" I also only ever heard people say Dia dhuit with a soft "g" sound coming from the séimhiú (mutation) in the "h". my Irish is from Leinsteir and from what I know is the standard version taught in most schools/gaelscóils in Ireland. As I said the "bh" or "mh" takes on a soft v sound, or even softer w in some cases. Accent usage in my experience depends on dialect as more Northern ones seem to shorten vowels that have an accent, where as Southern dialects pronounce the fada (the accent which means longer) as a longer version of the vowel, so Sean is [Sh an] and Seán is [Sh awn]. most "s" are softer in Irish with a "sh" sound. I found the same thing. My Irish is from Leinster, but from what I know, Munster Irish and Leinster Irish are the same. Many of the phrases in this video sound like Connacht Irish

The problem with learning any language is that the alphabet sounds need to be learned. That's one of the first things I had to learn while learning Spanish. This is throwing you into the fire and not showing how sounds are produced.

Yeah, you’re “🍀” if the language you’re learning even uses the same alphabet…unlike Русская/Українська, Ελληνικά… or any other language in the planet basically. Europe is a walk in the park once you leave the continent and come back and realize oh sh*t I can basically read these languages, not “square, squiggle, slash, checkmark..” Irish languages are about as confusing to read for me as French is to hear.

@SionnachuigIt seems languages are often related probably from a very long time ago. English is a mixture of Latin, French, German etc and so a relatively newer language. Irish seems very respectful eg 'Hello' is a blessing 'God be with you' and 'God and Mary with you' for 'Hello to you.too Clearly Christianity was involved along the way but I like the respect for others in it.

Please add pronunciation of each word such as Cá = Caw......this would really benefit learners. I believe there's a huge interest in learning Irish and you're doing a terrific job here but please add phonics/similar sounding words. You'll have us conversing with confidence in no time.

I feel like Irish should have its own script. Atleast with an Arabic or Russian script I am forced to learn new sounds for symbols. I find it impossible to process different sounds for the same letters as English.

We originally only had 18 letters in our alphabet until the spelling reform in the 1800's. We now use 24 of the latin alphabet letters. Using the latin/English alphabet was all down to the first Christian monks in the 3rd century. Prior to this, we used a writing system called Ogham, which was more 'runic' in it's nature.

Cló Gaelach is a writing system that was devised in medieval manuscripts from the Latin alphabet and was/is in regular use until the mid-20th century. It wasn't until recently that the latin alphabet has been reintroduced as the primary orthography.
