You use it in different scenarios. It’s just difficult because English is complicated

The answer is that you understand from context, just like how in English "you" can be singular or plural. Otherwise you can use the strong form of the indirect personal pronouns: Piace a lui Piace a loro

Es verdad que en español latino, "les gusta" bastaría para "voi" tanto como "Lei," pero para español de España, "os gusta" sería la traducción apropiada para "vi piace."
