Excellent series, thanks for sharing your knowledge! By FAR the most difficult and frustrating part is figuring out the correct sequence of key strokes and clicks to start and stop lines and close off shapes. I spent a good 20 minutes trying to find the midpoint /offset and baseline of the triangle shape! It would be great if you could explain a little slower those sequences, as without seeing if you are pressing return or clicking the mouse saying "like that" is not so obvious! Thanks again! Just to add that not know how to start/end line properly means I have many lines drawn on top of one another, and although they are unseen they seems to have created many different mid-points. Very frustrating to try to erase those incorrect lines as you can see them or separate them from the correct line which was initially drawn, if that makes sense?!

I have been using SketchUp for 5 minutes and when I right click, the option to find centre does not come up. It had done on earlier part of the model, but now I am gazumped. The top 3 options in the dropdown are the same, Then select, area, intersect faces, align view, align axes, reverse faces, orient faces, zoom selection, then the 3rd section is Make Unique Texture. What have I missed???

Hello Justin. Thank you so much for the tutorials. I am having a hard time with the measurements. Pretty much from the get go my file wants to use larger measuring units. 1" is too tiny to show up. I tried zooming in and all but it still didnʻt like the sizes. Anything in the overall settings I need to adjust? NEVERMIND, I had deleted the person and had lost reference....I had not zoomed in ENOUGH. I am leaving this comment here in case somebody else is having issues with it. Obviously I am a complete beginner. YAY. A bit over 4hrs for Day1 video and ʻonlyʻ 2hrs today for Day2. Thank you for talking it all through so thoroughly.

When drawing edge lines, why are the lines invisible and end points invisible? It makes it quite difficult to find the original midpoint again to make additional measurements off of the original midpoint. Is there a way to show all end points of edge lines?

Newbie to Sketchup. In the Day 1 and Day 2 videos, I noticed you start at the origin and align along the vertices. Is this the usually best position to start a modeling project?
@Jack_Boon
@Jack_Boon 2 жыл бұрын
Modelling as close to the origin is always better. There's a situation that when your models get larger(Urban scale), it gets further from the origin, there will be camera clipping situations occurring when you zoom into certain parts of the model if your model is too far from the origin. It also helps when you are to use the skp models as components inside other files too, so when you are to import it in, the selecting box would fit nicely of the component itself only.
@Thesketchupessentials
@Thesketchupessentials 2 жыл бұрын
Basically what @Jack Boon said, but as a general rule yes, start as close to the origin as possible 👍

im having an issue loading the stl file to cura slicer. my main purpose for learning this is to work with 3d printing, the table turned out fine. day 2's lesson, the rounded hoop part on the right side, doesnt show up in the preview when i attempt to print the model. was wondering what i did wrong? instead its trying to print the hole, instead of the hoop part... i have the whole model as a group so it should all register as one piece. any ideas?
