My brother studied languages at the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center in California. The pace of study was intense. Students had to master the language course in 36-64 weeks. Psychologically it was very difficult, but fortunately he was helped by Yuriy Ivantsiv's book "Polyglot Notes. Practical tips for learning foreign languages”. The book " Polyglot Notes" became a desk book for my brother, because it has answers to all the problems that any student of a foreign language has to face. Thanks to the author of the channel for this interesting video! Good luck to everyone who studies a foreign language and wants to realize their full potential!

"It's easy, isn't it?" Well, yes, if you can get your head around the totally different sounds! I've tried learning several languages - Italian, French, German, Japanese and Welsh. I have had no problems pronouncing any of them (the last one being unsurprising as it is the language of my country - just a shame that it is so rarely spoken where I live). But the Scandinavian languages are so difficult for me to pronounce. I love the sound of Swedish though, so want to try learning it again!

Tip from a swede, you never say "Trevligt att träffas", that's a typical book example which would sound very old fashioned 😆 A more modern way to say hi to someone (unless you old) would be to say: "Tja (Slang hello), läget? (what's up?)" or "Tja, är det bra? (are you good?)", that is more how we actually speak.

All you need to know is a name and the age and where the area the person lives in. If you find the person, then you’ll know everything about that person. A good website is “Ratsit.se”, here you can find how many dogs they have, how many houses they own, how many and which companies they own. The social security number and many more things

It is also good to know the phrase "God eftermiddag". This is the phrase that is used during the afternoon. It literally translates to "good after midday" but it means good afternoon. I don't know why this wasn't included within the video but either way "Hej" is the typical greeting regardless of the time of day. I just think if you're learning a new language everything should be included.

Hi! It’s so nice to see your comment here because I’m a Korean. 🇰🇷 Recently I started to learn Swedish, using Duolingo. I’ve been always thinking about visiting Sweden or studying(probably for master’s degree) in there since 2017! If you have any interest of questions about Korean language, maybe I can help you. (I have the highest level of a Korean language lisense, which means my ability to use Korean is probably above top 1% or higher even in my country.) Sadly, my English is not good enough, but still I can read or understand basic texts. I hope we could talk about Korea and Sweden…probably in English.

I've been trying to half-ass learn Swedish on and off for 25 years. Back in the 90s, I had a book that came with a cassette. I rarely used the cassette and the closest I knew to Swedish was German which I had in high school. So when reading Swedish words, I often used German rules when pronouncing. I often tell my daughter to watch her huvud.

I have been learning Swedish for about 5 months. I think I’m learning it rather quickly. The reason I’m learning it fast is because I listen and don’t read. Well not “don’t” read, but I purposely ignore the text on the screen when I’m doing my lessons. I feel like I know almost as much Swedish as I do Spanish which I have yet to master because I realized trying to learn it from a book was the worst way possible. Now when I listen to Spanish I even understand it more. I had to rewire my brain to really hear the language and not just learn word after word after word. Hope this helps!

Italian is probably the closest I have to a 4th although not anywhere close to being conversational. My mother language is English, 2nd is German (fluent), 3rd Swedish but not conversational level.
