My biggest demon is confirmation bias. I despite the playstyle where people play passive until they get drive gauge and then drive rush with different normals to make me guess. I get hit once by Lukes DR b.HP into 60-70%, and you can call the set over from that point. I become really anxious, start playing passive myself, and try to react to everything, losing to everything else they do. And sometimes, i get really pissed and start doing mad random shit like double dash throw or unspaced divekicks.

Really insightful video, decision making is one of my weakpoints. I often go for plays that I don’t really have to in tense situations.

I feel like in intense moments, having patience and waiting for the other player to over-extend is the best play. It’s hard to maintain a strong defense under pressure but it pays off

Decision making and the mental aspect of the game are a very dear theme to me, thanks zaf for a great video that brought some introspection to my gameplay

I’m so glad that I have already been implementing all these things in my decision making and approach to fighting games now that I’ve been playing them. Oddly enough, this video has confirmed my bias that I’m approaching things in this game correctly, and that I’ll continue to improve. Of course it didn’t happen overnight and I’m by no means an EVO champion or anything, I’ve got a long way to go before winning any tournaments. I do feel good knowing that when I have approached walls in my gameplay and decision making, I have taken the right approach to WRAP up any possible improvements. Awesome video Zaferino.

Life lessons disguised as fighting game lessons. I remember the first time I explored "widening" my options. When I was starting to get decent at SFV, I was trying to figure out what the "optimal" choices were. Not only does this make you predictable on offense, it doesn't apply at all on defense. Like the standard wakeup options aren't the only options. Sometimes you will catch people with a wakeup forward dash. Should it be a frequent option? No, but you should consider it sometimes, and let it rip. One example of this is Kakeru/Uzura v. Caba at Evo 2022 pools, where he hard countered v-shift to clutch out the win. One thing I learned from Zaf is dealing with the "overconfidence" or really the lack of quick adaptation in my game. He pointed out that when something unexpected happened, that's when I would end up making my worst choices, oftentimes trying to force my option only to get it countered. This is something I know I will have to work on in SF6.

I think the priority demon of these to conquer for me is short term emotion. It’s not all the time, but often enough when that super doesn’t come out or I unexpectedly drop the combo and get thrown out it is the decision right after that gets me in much deeper trouble.
