As a 1,000 rated player I find it hard to play black in the queens gambit declined because of the space, so this is really helpful for good development and an easy way to not get an awkward position, thanks chesscaped!

I have watched this video several times. This very smart man knows too many variations for someone like me to remember. I'll try to memorize the first two or three variations of the Kings Indian defense. However, beyond the first few variations will be tough for 60 year old brain.

Maybe you should cover the dutch defense sometime, it has a similar to the king’s indian defense and since it starts like d4 f5, you do not need to move the knight to play f5 later on.

i think the kings indian is a better weapon than the dutch though

while the dutch can be a good opening with the right counter by theory I can see your point as moving the f pawn early is risky plus gambits like the staunton gambit (d4, f5, e5) is very aggresive and may be too much for players TLDR: dutch is a good opening if you can play it right but it can be risky due to an early f pawn push and aggresive gambits.

I've been practising the King's Indian for over a year now, and always ran into issues developing unmolested. It got worse recently as i started playing online more frequently, so this was a big help. It s literally all u need to know if u wanna play this amazing opening, he s giving u a response for every response for white, go back to chess reels and cheap traps and don t comment for no reason. KID and gruenfeld are the most amazing and "not boring" openings vs d4.
