Two of three variables should be same, and all variables are not zero.

if u multiply everything by (m+n+x)*x, you get that it becomes a quadratic equation in x, so it's obv there are only 2 solutions x= -m and x=-n

is m+n≠0 a necessary condition?
@SarathBapu2 күн бұрын
If m+n=0 => 1/m + 1/n = 0 always. In such situation, the solution would be m,n,x € Z, m,n,x!= 0 and m+n != 0

(m + n) (1/(m n) + 1/(x (m + n + x))) = 0 (x + m) (x + n) /( m n x ( m + n + x)) = 0 Hereby x = - m, - n
@user-xk8ux6qc2j5 күн бұрын
Easier solution: 1/m + 1/n = 1/(m+n+x) - 1/x (m+n)/mn = -(m+n)/x(m+n+x) 1/mn = -1/x(m+n+x) x(m+n+x) = -(mn) There you have 4 cases. (1) x = -m => m + n + (-m) = n which is true. (2) x = m => m + n + (m) = -n => x = m = -n . (3) x = -n => m + n + (-n) = m which is true. (4) x = n => m + n + (n) = -m => x = n = -m Solutions: x = -m or x = -n.

line 2 ->line3 , if m=-n you cannot divide by 0
@user-xk8ux6qc2j5 күн бұрын
@@blancheteigne9865 True, that makes it actually more simple, since we would only have cases (1) and (3), thanks for spotting the mistake!!

You have multiple errors where you are missing grouping symbols: (m + n)/(mn) = -(m + n)/[x(m + n + x)], etc.
