Same here. Shari and Dr Dave are really good for their technical explanations of different phenomena that occur when shooting (CIT, SIT, Deflection, Forward Roll effects, stun shot effects, and what not.) It's crazy how much better my game has got from this channel in the last few months. It's rapidly helped me bridge the gap with more experienced players

Great video. Yeah lately my problem is adding spin trying to play position but whats happening is its rattling the pocket missing while giving me position but without making the ball its pointless.

So if I'm always scratching after sinking a cut shot I shud b countering in opposite direction of threatening pocket cuz it will always have spin after cutting, correct?

It's a really good idea to practice with your usual playing cue, trying hard and soft sidespin shots into the side pocket, so you get the feel for how YOUR cue requires you to adjust your aim. Regarding the options presented in this video, I'd vote for whatever approach allows a natural path, using a medium stroke (if possible). A soft stroke which allows the CB to come off the rail (because we all hate shooting off the rail) is okay, as long as you don't end up on the "50 yard line."

Also for that last shot demonstrated, you need to be on a table with good cloth and not worn down as you find in many bars. I prefer in this situation the very first shot you demonstrated but many guys fear that shot because they don't want to come up short and give up ball in hand. I have trouble convincing people to do this and they often shoot to hard and blow the leave. For some reason I find it hard to convince players I'm helping that soft shots can be key. They fear ball in hand to much in a match. That's one reason I send my billiard buds your videos often.

@@Sharivari It still seems a bit confusing to me. I fully understand everything in both videos, my question is this: The 2nd and 3rd shots are at the same speed. for the 2nd you say spin-induced throw and deflection cancel each-other out. shouldn't they also cancel each-other out in the 3rd then if they are shot at the same speed? I thought so, but you say for the 3rd to calculate for deflection. perhapse it's actually a bit more speed on the shot? this would make sense for deflection to have a bigger impact

To me a very obvious solution that's missing is just drawing a cannon to the eight ball. It seems like a very natural angle to do that.

This doesn't explain why I am missing shots because I want to aim it straight into the pocket and that doesn't happen. This is for people who can already aim straight shots.
