The glow in the sky is from the sunset through the smoke, that is coming from the bushfires north of Sydney.
The initial sketch is important when painting buildings, as it prevents awkward perspective mistakes.

Here in Adelaide the weather fluctuates yesterday 43 today it is supposed to be 21. We live in the Adelaide Hills not far from Hahndorf on a small property. Keep sharing and inspiring.

Hi Shirley! You're an excellent watercolorist and teacher. Thanks so much for your efforts! I have a problem though. The image on your website is huge. Right clicking to save the image isn't possible. Can you manage a smaller version, say in the 500 x 800 pixel range that allows saving by right-clicking? I did a Google search and did find other images of this pub, but I like this perspective much better. On another topic, if I manage to paint this to my liking, would you be averse to me selling my version? Always good to ask ahead of time!
