Completely agree with this 100%. Bowen's tutorials are great for strategy, but not deep enough to properly be called a "tutorial".

His Walking Dead tutorial is the worst pinball tutorial I've ever seen. "Lets go for Blood Bath" How? "Let's get CDC started" How?! "Don't forget to use your X" HOW!? He explains literally nothing of how the game works. You'd have to already know all the rules to follow what he's saying. If I knew them, I wouldn't be watching a tutorial.

Thanks Mike! I know there's some good tutorials out there, but i'm glad that my style / structure of how I do mine seems to work. Always felt it needed a different approach than the way that other tutorials are done.

That's awesome! That's what makes me want to do these types of tutorials. I love it when someone else gets to see the same reasons why I enjoy a game so much. Best of luck on getting that GC. That time when you cash out that killer Crank It Up will feel amazing. Even setting up a few insert item lights and getting to a MultiBall will feel a lot better now too!

I couldn't wait until Tuesday league to try these tips out and I went in today before work. I didn't take the GC yet since I'm still working on ball control and nudging, but on my first game I had three lanes with all the inserts lit going into MB! After that I only had a couple coffin shots left and nailed the scoop on my first shot for Crank it Up! Unfortunately I didn't play it well and drained. But my score went from an average of about 60-70 million to 125 million instantly! GC where I play is only 300 million so I can see myself hitting that very soon now that I know where my points are hiding! What other tutorial videos are you considering putting out there?

That's awesome Adam! If that's where you've started already, you're in for a long time of loving Metallica. I usually do tutorials each Saturday when I stream. I had been wanting to save more of them after they're done, but they usually just get lost in the streams. I have TSPP, Star Trek Premium, TWD, GOT LE, and Tron to play. That Metallica tutorial just went too well for me to not pull it out to upload.

Thanks for the kind words. This is a Premium, so no Total Lightshow mod (that's for Pro only). I do have a LOT of added mods though that enhance the lightshow further than the standard Premium / LE though too.

Great question. Stern doesn't usually offer much detail about rules / modes / scoring. Personally I've found 3 sources I've used to get those details. First are other videos that people post when they may make a tutorial on a game. Next, in the past I've had some websites talk it through as well, Pinball News had a great writeup on Tron a long time ago. Finally, just playing a game a lot and exploring it over time. Playing on location can make that an expensive method though. But it can be the most fun way to learn at times. Good luck with your pinball exploring and hope this was helpful.

Great question Ben! So honestly, it usually starts with me seeing someone else's tutorial on it, maybe from Bowen or Pinball News or some other source. I am a visual learner though, so a game really takes on a different feel when I have it in my house. I rarely learn much on location when I play. So with the basics usually learned from another source, I learn the rest through trial and error mainly. I generally develop my own takes / strategies that work for me. I will make note of things I felt I didn't learn from others and do my best to emphasize those points when I take about a game (how to actually collect walker bombs in TWD is a perfect example). I like thinking of the games as how they play for beginners, intermediate, and expert players. I want anyone to walk away from a tutorial with knowledge they can use and enjoy it more when they play the next time. That's what I look for in a great game.
