I used to love this show, when I was a little kid, back in my former hometown in Brooklyn, NY. For a couple of years ago, It thought me how to read, back at school, but only when ordered to, and I sometimes know the right pronunciations of some impossible words.
As a matter of fact, I do remember watching this, back in my Grandma's house, and watch it from my former local PBS station, Thirteen (WNET, New York).
It was fun, and educational. But, It was only intended for adults. But, I didn’t mind.
As for the host, I somehow didn’t notice that the host of "Learn to Read" was the man who created Chocolate Chip Cookies, back in the day, until a couple of years ago, when I noticed that Wally "Famous Amos" Amos was the host of the show.
It’s quite sad that some KET Adult Education titles weren’t released on DVD, or reran on TV ever since. From what I know, my former local PBS station, (Thirteen/WNET) used to re-broadcast "Learn to Read" and "GED en Español", on afternoons, after PBS Kids is over, until sometime in 2006.
