I used to love this show, when I was a little kid, back in my former hometown in Brooklyn, NY. For a couple of years ago, It thought me how to read, back at school, but only when ordered to, and I sometimes know the right pronunciations of some impossible words.
As a matter of fact, I do remember watching this, back in my Grandma's house, and watch it from my former local PBS station, Thirteen (WNET, New York).
It was fun, and educational. But, It was only intended for adults. But, I didn’t mind.
As for the host, I somehow didn’t notice that the host of "Learn to Read" was the man who created Chocolate Chip Cookies, back in the day, until a couple of years ago, when I noticed that Wally "Famous Amos" Amos was the host of the show.
It’s quite sad that some KET Adult Education titles weren’t released on DVD, or reran on TV ever since. From what I know, my former local PBS station, (Thirteen/WNET) used to re-broadcast "Learn to Read" and "GED en Español", on afternoons, after PBS Kids is over, until sometime in 2006.

I watched this show on Thirteen WNET New York, too. This was also my childhood.

Yeah, same here. Reminds me of being an assaholic, idiotic little kid. If you’d ask me, Thank god I’m not in Brooklyn or in New York no more, because of the crimes people commit, or all that shit happening, but I do miss watching "Learn to Read", and classic "GED" on Thirteen, back then.

@@JordansCornerofNostalgia I agree. If only Thirteen WNET New York put Learn To Read, GED & TV411 back on for reruns.

That would be agreeable, at best. Or, maybe release it on DVD, but make it profitable for the DVD market, for people to sell. Or if not, maybe make an Broadband Online Video site exclusively for PBS titles, classic and contemporary alike. Just like how other networks or companies made their own online-style on-demand, broadband video sites. For example, like GameTap, MTV.com's "Overdrive", VH1.com's "VSPOT", Nick.com's "TurboNick", CBS.com's "Innertube", ComedyCentral.com's "MotherLoad", SOAPnet's SOAPNETIC or ESPN.com's ESPN360. I apologize if I’m going Off-Topic, since I don’t allow Off-Topic Comments on my KZfaq channel’s videos, because they’re very annoying. But, that’s the concept of the broadband online on-demand video sites…. Giving die-hard fans and viewers an exclusive, all-access pass for content they CANNOT see or do on TV, but can see and do on their Computer. It is how it is, quite frankly.

Man I remember somehow being mesmerized by this show as a little kid - after Sesame Street, Reading Rainbow, Lamb Chop, Shining Time Station, etc I'd find myself somehow watching LtR despite it being a literacy program for adults.
