Negative space is beautiful, it adds visual interest to pieces and gives your eye a place to travel to and from.
Base paint for this piece was Supralux by Para. Interior latex paint in a flat finish.
Colors used were minimal. Paynes grey, raw umber, bronze. White swipe.
Less is more with minimalistic swipes. 😀

That is truly a favorite! Love minimals pieces, but I agree, those colors are perfect together. Elegant in a way.

I totally agree! Raw umber has been a go to color for me for quite some time. I used it continuously in bloom pours. It makes really pretty shadows. Cindy

I love browns and blues, they are a perfect match together. I also like your simplicity. It make for such a modern piece. I don't care for pinks, purples and all kinds of colour either, mostly because I have a hard time figuring out what goes with what. I could talk to Michelle Galli for hours too. Should have made it a 3 way conversation!! I was up at 4 as well. She's a doll. We were roommates at Pourcon!!

I hear that. There are about 4 colors that I gravitate too and should have shares in the company. Paint in the colors that make your heart sing. I see beautiful, bright pours that others have done and I love them but if I poured them it wouldnt feel the same unless they were blooms. Always Do you. Cindy

One of my favourites! Raw Umber, Paynes grey play quite well together. I use both of these on a regular basis. I prefer paynes grey from liquatex as I find the Paebo brand quite blue. Cindy

I love creating artwork with negative space as well, especially in black. For me it adds interest and high contrast which makes the composition pop. I'm new to your channel but I've watched a few videos and we have similar styles, and painting philosophy. I look forward to watching your journey! :)

Mornig AVA, thank you for joing me. Michelle and negative space are both awesome! Michelle has been tremendous support talking me through computer issues and just super fun to chit chat back and forth with. Negative space is visually interesting. Even when I am doing portrait photography I leave distance on one side or another of my subject. Long gone are the days where eveything has to be dead center and symmetrical. Cindy

You’re very talented. I actually like both of your paintings this morning, but the second one was prettier. I have one question, do you mix anything with your base paint. Love the way you leave negative space on your canvases, it really adds to your painting.
@acrylicpouringwithcindyvan9173
@acrylicpouringwithcindyvan9173 3 жыл бұрын
Many thanks Carolyn. It often depens what base paint I have purchased. There are several brands that I can usually use directly out of the can. I go by the thickness of the paint in the can, if its too thick I add a small amount of water or floetrol. Blooms and bloom swipes I keep my base a little thinner so that I can stretch things out easier. Be careful not to thin too much or your base will pop through your colors. Cindy
