As a german I can say that ü and ö are fairly simple for an german speaker, it only appears way more often in turkish haha. Examples for ü in german could be: Tüte (a bag) Führer (a leader) Überfall (a raid) Üben (to learn) Also e sounds like the german ä.

Because of the vowel harmony, once you see it the root , the suffices will also include “ü”. As a Turkish i like that. I believe that vowel harmony lets us speak faster since we dont have to change the position of our mouth each time when we pronounce a word. Like görüşürüz. All you need to do is just adjust your mouth according to the consonants. Also as a person who studies German ( a beginner ) , having ü and ö letters in common in both of these langauges actually kind of motivate me.

That's very genious to teach letter ü over the word equivalent since the sound is an u followed by an i which is the same principle in pronuncing Turkish ü. Great catch!!! 👍Moreover she speaks English perfectly and is sympathetic and has a smiling face as well. 🤗

I would have enjoyed a thorough explanation of the difference between açık e and kapalı e. For an Italian like me that’s not a big problem because we also have that distinction, but for others it might be more difficult. The sound of the e in “ben” and in “belli” are NOT the same, so they are in fact two different vowel sounds.

There is no need to know this much in detail. Most Turks cannot distinguish these two letters,including me
@smtuscany
@smtuscany 2 жыл бұрын
@@zaboybagoi8636 Lucky you. In Italy we can engage endless feuds about why in this or that region they pronounce Es and Os right or wrong (we also have open and closed O). In fact, a good way to recognize someone from Milan is if they invariably use open Es when they should be closed, and vice versa. Beyond their “know-it-all” attitude, of course ☺️
@mehmetakifyldz773

In Azerbaijani turkish , they use different letters for open e and close e, but as a turkish it is really diffucult for me to distinguish between them. But i believe i get better at that by time.
@smtuscany
@smtuscany Жыл бұрын
@@mehmetakifyldz773 I understand it's a common situation. On Italian vocabularies, accent markers are used for clarity: "è" for open e and "é" for closed e. Even then, people manage to mispronounce them 😀

Good to see how the jaw & lips move when pronouncing the various vowels. P. S. The pronunciation of “Equivalent” was incorrect. “E-que-valent” is incorrect. It is “e-quiv-valent” kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fdOCks-ImbG1YYk.html

I'm still confuse with the pronounciation of e when it appears at the end of a word. For example in this video Funda introduce 'Erdem'. I though it will be pronounce like Erdem where the second 'E' sound like 'E' in 'gem' but it pronounce as Erdumb with the 'dem' sounds like dumb. So confusing.

@@brawleralper6473 So, in other words, "a name". The word "proper" was unnecessary. It's like people saying, "Raise your hands up." The word "raise" means to lift up, so the word "up" is unnecessary because if you think about it, which other way is there to raise your hands? Down? 🤷🏽‍♀️

You didn't pronounce the word "equivalent" properly. You were trying to tell us how the U with the two dots is pronounced, HOWEVER, the word "equivalent" does NOT pronounce the "u" in the word for more than a second. It's the "i" sound that is more pronounced as in the word "it".
