Update: I've made 30 or so tweaks to my original video, to sand off some of the rough edges, as well as to clarify certain rules. Special thanks to David Cates, who provided cleaned-up sound files for my narration!
Original Description: Vindication is a gorgeous new board game from first time board game studio Orange Nebula that's just dripping with theme and interesting, intertwined mechanics. This is my first tutorial video, so please feel free to leave constructive criticism!

Great Video! Please consider that only movement is compulsory, the other three actions are optional! (Page 8: “you must move each turn, the other actions are optional”)

Bought this after Christmas and just got around to learning the rules a week ago. Didn’t have time to actually play, though, and I was doubting my memory of what I understood. Found this video, and it was a perfect, concise, no-overcomplications overview, exactly what I needed. Thanks!

Haha, I appreciate you putting it kindly, sir! Due to yours and others' feedback about the announcer voice (and everyone was very polite about it!), I'll potentially make a third version sometime and figure out another way to introduce each section that still "pops" but is less irritating! Thanks for the feedback - hope the video was helpful!

I disagree about the voice! Yes it's a bit... amateur-ish, but I liked that it added some humor to the otherwise dry topic of rules. I say go all in! Add reverb, record separately, try a few takes and get the most professional-yet-cheesy voice you can do.

@@bluewall5505 Haha, thank you! It definitely would be an honor to make more vids like this! To be completely honest, I've definitely wanted to, but unfortunately, life has been just overwhelming and full for me since the pandemic hit (and even before then, honestly!). I will certainly make at least one or two more at some point! :) But it just takes so much time that I usually don't have to give. But, there should at least be occassional, once-in-a-blue-moon vids on this channel! :)

This was really good! I would love to see more game explanations. You did a really good job with your format, order of information, and depth of explanation. I especially liked the way you were able to answer the piddly details without overwhelming the viewer. Examples are: controlling a location. I wasn't sure if you could move separate from controlling, but you addressed it right away! Top marks for being willing to go back and redo. That's what really makes things shine. Also, I don't mind if you left out a few things. This format is exactly what I want in a shorter video: hit all the important notes before I go read the rules. If I want a more through explanation then I'll watch a 30-60 minute video. You could absolutely find a niche if you made more videos like this! And I'd watch them.

Wow, thanks so much, Thutrian! What an amazing comment! I'm so glad that the information was conveyed in a helpful way for you! And I completely agree - generally, I like to show 10-15 min vids to people as teaching tools - any longer, and players just don't want to watch! My philosophy is, it's better to convey as many of the essentials as possible in logical, clear ways, and then leave the finer points to the game master to the explain, if they come up. You've definitely encouraged me to start outlining and storyboarding another video (most likely for my favorite game of all time, Aeon's End, which doesn't have any vids even close to this length). Life and work are CRAZY at the moment, though, so I can't promise anything will come out anytime soon, though. But we'll see! Thanks again for the feedback and encouragement, man.

You've got my sub, and I look forward to watching what you can do! I completely understand about life being crazy. We just had our first baby! I'm hoping it won't take too long to get back into my own hobbies. If you do find time, I'd be happy to give you some feedback, even as you make the video! I'm no editor, but I have some writing experience. You're very welcome for the encouragement. Even if it doesn't take off, it's worth spending time on the things you enjoy. Best of luck!

Hi Nate. I really dig your presentation style and organizing of the rules. Your spectacular shoutouts, I think at least, add a personal touch to the video that sets you apart from the rest so I personally would not lose that. The phases (of this already somewhat complicated game) are well structured, concisely explained and nicely supplemented with graphics. If I had any room for improvement, I'd say the video and graphics/scans could be higher in res (sorry, I'm a graphic designer so I get picky with these things). But that's small potatoes compared to the excellent and clean execution of your first instructional video. I hope more will follow!

I'm confused. In the rules, it says at least one movement is required. It doesn't say this about the other two. So, MUST I take each of the actions, or can I use one move two activations, or one move and two visits in the same turn?

I appreciate the critique! This is just generally how I like to teach - I like to give examples and insight about what some rules look like "within the game", just as a way to offer context and hopefully help the rules stick. But I get that my approach might not sit well with everyone; if I do another video, I'll have less strategy talk. ^_^

Great video except for the announcement of the sections. It was extremely loud and jarring and didn't fit whatsoever. I understand what you were trying to do, but for future review please leave that part out.
