僕は9歳から9年間、剣道をしていました。当時は稽古が辛く嫌々やっていましたが、辞めて気付いたのは剣道で鍛えられた精神力、相手を敬う気持ちを養えたと感じます。剣道は気・剣・体が一致しないと一本とは成らず、心と体を鍛える事が出来て、良かったなと思います。 スクイシーさんは日本の事を動画を通して、海外の方に発信してくれて本当に有難いです！

I've been practicing Kendo for a few years now and it's so interesting to see it again from a complete newcomer's perspective. Even before I signed up for practice, I knew what I was getting into. Or so I thought. Because what really stood out to me was that you actually don't know what it's like until you've tried it. You had basically all of the same impressions that I did. Whatever I thought I knew about Kendo beforehand didn't really matter. I didn't have as much of a mental block hitting people, but aside from that our experiences were basically the same. Being in the shoes - or lack thereof - of a Kendoka yourself and just watching it are entirely different. If anyone's curious about Kendo, my advice is that you just have to give it a try. It's not for everyone but if it's for you, you may just find a lifelong love for the sport.

剣道は大人になるとまず体験することないので、良い体験でしたね。 自分は30歳を超えてから柔道を習う機会がありましたが、自由に技をかけ合う”乱取り”という練習で1分も経たないで息が上がってしまう経験をしました。

これは凄い。もう食レポする食べ物はないだろと思っていたら剣道ですか。久しぶりにビックリしました。 こういう日本の伝統を体験して貰えて日本人として嬉しいです。今度は弓道も期待ですね。でも的に当たるかな～？？

Thank you, Sky. So wonderful video! I noticed the feeling for foreigner to try kendo at first time. Surroundings, sounds, strength, fear, armor, courtesy & traditionally. Japanese think importance to respect the courtesy & meanings in kendo. George Lucas had felt "Force" in Japanese culture. He made the films. I recommend you would try kyudo,Japanese archery. You will love the dougi costume and atmosphere of the dojo.

Thank you for sharing new video which is the experience of Kendo. Actually, I’ve never done Kendo, but I’ve done Judo which is one of the traditional martial arts in Japan. I was not good at it but I think it causes our mental more stronger. By the way, my most favorite sport is football. It’s exciting me and make me fun. My favourite sport is actually "Kendo" and so is my son's. He belongs to the Kendo club at his hign school and on the weekend I enjoy doing Kendo with my son, sometimes just for fun but sometimes we do it seriously to prove which is stronger! Great video, thanks heaps!

Great stuff for trying out kendo. 🎉 In Kendo there is actually no strength used at all. It's all technique, so you don't have to be physically strong at all to do kendo. Anyone can do it. England will be competing at the European Kendo Championship on the weekend of the 19th of May if you are interested in watching them. 👍🏻

剣道を小学生までしていて2級でした。 剣道の思い出は冬の体育館での床の冷たさで素足の稽古はきつかったです。 夏は暑くて防具を脱ぎ捨てたい。 中学に剣道部がなくて小学生で辞めました。 懐かく動画を楽しめました。 小学生一年生での入りたてだと最初から防具をつけての体験はなかったのです。 防具をつけての体験はいいですね。

剣道は訳あってできませんでしたが自分の防具ならやってみたいですね。今回も楽しい動画ありがとうございます。

I've seen your channel " Squishy Talk" for pretty long years. I should say sometimes when I got myself in free time though. and I realized that you've been introducing cultural gaps between Japan and your country through English talking which is really great journey and finding treasure for audience through this channel. By the way, I used to be the Kendo Club member when I was junior school days in Yokohama city. It was long,long time ago. I think that The kendo is transformed from real Japanese sward period,but the techniques were lost and vanished as it should be. Nowadays, Kendo is recognized as just a memory of the periods while Japanese people lived with Long swards once upon a time. Long, Long times back in the history as you've read ans watched through TV and history as well. Also the style remins in minimum as a traditional sport. maybe some sort of traditional mentarity in it,but It is unspoken like in the mist. It was unique of you to make a video like this. It was so suprising to see you're waering kendo gears cuz I did kendo from 6 to 15 years old. Kendo is rare practice that is between Budo and sports, I believe. Judo is now almost completely sports. I mean the goal of kendo is not just to win the game.

凄いすごいスゴイ!日本の高校生は体育で剣道か柔道の選択(学校側)が有りますが、剣道には防具等の費用が発生するため全国的には少数派なんですよ。

I know a lot of British people who are keen on practising Karate. When I was in Cambridge, I practised Karate with many British people. They know techniques and history of Karate better than Japanese people who practise Karate, so I was very impressed. I have practised Gojuryu Karate for 50 years but some British people who practise Karate are much more excellent and stronger than me.

Next Naginata, a martial art with a ladies majority, glad you got a taste of Kendo, as many have commented, it obviously has a great cardio training component but also a spirit polishing one, it can be a great tool of innerself exploration.

スポーツではなく武道であると不満な意見は今のところ気にしなくていいです。 「武道」という概念自体、もっと深く関わらないと解ってこないので、分類ではないと思っています。 中途半端に「こうでなければならない」と強制するのは安易で その人それぞれが「武道」とは何かを、精神性的な事も含め次第に知っていくのが自然な事だと思います。 「道」と名の付く競技は単に勝ち負けだけでなく、精神性やその競技のもつ歴史、文化、礼節を自分の生き方に重ねたりして身について初めてなんとなく解っていくものなので はじめの一歩を踏み出してくれたスカイさんの勇気はそこに繋がっていると思います いろんな事に挑戦してね

防具・胴着を収納するとき、ひもの結び方が多種類在り、大変良く工夫されています。 ひもの結び方に何種類もあって、大変合理的な結び方です。 剣道は礼儀、挨拶、ひもの結び方に文化があります。

我が家もイギリスにrootsがある 日本人ですが、息子が２人とも 剣道をはじめました。 鬼滅の刃の影響ですか？うちは、 そうなんです。とても動きが 美しくて驚きました。ありがとうございます。

これは貴重な体験をされましたね🙄 剣道の防具は頑丈なので打たれても痛くないですが、防具以外のところを打たれると痛いです😂 打つ側も正確に打たないと相手を怪我させてしまうので技術と集中力がいります！ 海外の映画で日本の剣道のシーンが出てくる事がありますが、本物の剣道とはかけ離れている事が多いので、本物の剣道を体験して頂けたのは嬉しいです😊

道着姿は凛々しくて格好良いです。実際の試合でも面打ちは痛くないもののスピードが違うので小手を打たれるとかなり痛いです。それと下手くそが胴に打ち込んだ際に間違って防具のない脇の下に打たれるのは剣道の「あるある」で一番痛いです。懐かしい。

Thank you for the great video showcasing a little known martial art outside of Japan. Interestingly enough outside of Japan Kendo is surprisingly pretty accessible these days. I live in Oklahoma USA and even our state has 3 kendo dojo. If you live in America, chances are, you aren't too far away from a dojo that teaches kendo.

Kendo is the way of life as with anything that ends with「道」such as bushido武士道or sado「茶道」 There are other form of “ways” but they all teaches you the same thing. I do hope you gain more than sore muscles.

比較的肌寒い季節に体験出来て良かったですね。真夏の剣道は地獄ですよ。特にコロナ禍ではマスクして面を付けて稽古しなくてはいけなかったそうで有段者にとってもとても憂鬱な3年間だったそうです。機会がありましたら、剣道以外の武道も体験してみてください。私は剣道、野球、陸上競技、ラグビー、アメリカンフットボールを経験しました。

I also did kendo in class in high school, but I remember some of the gear as kote gloves, etc. stink of sweat because of that was shared, So I worry about if Sky's were brand new? And depending on where you hit, it hurts even if you are wearing protective gear, lol.😁But I feel that the etiquette as a martial art has something in common with English chivalry and the like. So, Skye, you have always been a great admirer of Japanese culture, but as a Japanese, I have not forgotten that modern Japan has a lot of British influences, such as cars driving on the left side of the road and parliamentary democracy. So let me say thank you UK to lovely Skye from my side.🙇🍵

高校の時私は柔道部でしたが隣が（同じ体育館）剣道部で、ある日友達の勧めで剣道具をつけたのですが、 あまりにも防具の臭さが強くて頭がくらくらしたのを覚えています。少し練習もしたのですがいくら面の防具をつけて いても、面を取りに来る時飛び上がって打ってくるので後ろ頭にあたりとても痛かったです。その代わり剣道部の友達が 柔道着を着て遊びに来た時は思いっきり投げ飛ばしてやりましたが。柔道もJudoとなった今はあまりにもいろんな ルールができてつまらなくなりました。剣道も同じ道を進まなければ良いのですがね。
