I started learning chinese a year ago (at the age of 48) just for the fun of it and because I think China and Chinese is very interesting. Great to hear a fellow Dutchy speak Chinese so fluently! Very very impressive! And I can also hear her Dutch accent, which is very recognisable 😊. I hope to be able to speak Chinese like that one day. Groetjes aan Laura!

I wish I could learn to speak another language that well. Her Mandarin sounds pretty good to me.

这个视频很有趣!Laura 说的非常好!对我来说跟非母语者的对话对我很有用,因为说中文的非母语者说得比较清楚 😊 Laura 说英语的时候有荷兰的口音(我说荷兰语说得很流利)不过她说中文的时候听不了荷兰的口音

I'm not Dutch and her tones sound strange to me at a bunch of points. Most the non-native speakers I here are either English, Japanese, Vietnamese or Korean speakers, so maybe I'm used to different languages' influence on tones, though.

Learning Chinese seems to have touched her deeply in ways she couldn't have predicted. Having taken your pronunciation course, I can hear a few accent issues in her speech, but obviously they don't inhibit her communication much. Suggestion for future interviews: use two microphones, because sometimes it's a bit difficult to hear your response when she has the microphone. I don't know what hardware you are using, but I think it shouldn't be difficult to add a second microphone no matter what you have.

Have quite appreciated these videos up until now, thought Mairead's Chinese was very interesting to listen to, very educational. Can't help but feel that this girl's pronunciation is all over the place-her tones in particular seem off. A good example of what not to do when learning Chinese (or indeed, any language)-pronounce it badly without realising it. Couldn't get through more than a couple of minutes of it, but that's educational too, I suppose. Appreciate the upload either way.
