I love the look of the CTX 3030 and some of the features. Waterproof and GPS most interesting to me. I have run the E-TRAC for 6 years and I just cannot see making this upgrade yet because the rest of it looks generally the same (FeCo report, tones, overall operation)...but looks can deceive. Does anyone here who has made this switch feel the CTX goes deeper, has better target identification capability, or has significant technology to warrant the cost of making the upgrade from the E-TRAC? The learning curve for me on my E-TRAC was huge and it took years to get it down to the point where I knew the detector like an old friend. I cannot imagine entering another curve unless this machine offers a very compelling real world reason to do so. Don't get me wrong because this CTX looks like a beauty but does the move from E-TRAC to CTX really provide the user with a new world of better detecting? Comments from those who have travelled this road are requested.

LycomingWarrior - In some cases I think it outperforms the Big-E, but it is a very hard call. I love the "combined audio" feature on the CTX - like 2-tone ferrous, only better. The CTX can go in the water as well. It's better balanced for all day hunting. Thanks and happy hunting!

Absolutely - most of the main features are the same as the E-Trac. There are just some new twists like the ferrous-coin and ground-coin recovery modes as well as the combined audio which is like TTF on steroids. HH!

Thanks for the comment - it's a Kodak Zi-6 - picked it up refurbed on e-bay for about 30 bucks!

One correction - I forgot that in this video I was running multi-tone conductive for a few of the wheats and the quarter - just to see how it handled this - but mostly only in areas where there is little iron.
