Mehdi Azar-Yazdi (1922-2009) was an Iranian children's writer known for adapting Classical Persian literature for children. Beginning his career in 1956, his most notable work is the award-winning "Good Stories for Good Children," an eight-volume series based on various Persian literary works, including Kalila wa Dimna, Gulistan, Masnavi-e Ma'navi, and others. The series, written in a simple style for children, won a UNESCO award in 1966.
