Hello , Jade. I stumbled on your english classes on youtube. They are very valuable. I also discovered your tests "how posh are you" and I find them very funny! You are a great teacher with good humour. (sorry if I am very late for subscribing). I am french and I must say: Jade, ton niveau est déjà bien avancé pour un premier cours. C'est du bon travail. Félicitations! Et merci pour tout ton précieux contenu en anglais. A bientôt!

Well done! Good determination. I have also noticed a big imbalance between what I can understand (in Russian) and what I can say myself. After about 2 years of at least 1 hour of lessons per day plus watching hundreds of films and reading short stories and using apps, I'm probably about A1 level and a low A2 level. It is very gradual but whats crazy is how when you 'gain height' it starts to get much easier as even words you dont know can be deduced from the sentence context etc. Its very satisfying when the teacher says try to translate this sentence and I dont need to because it was heard and understood! Best wishes , dont give up! 🙂

After all these years learning English with you, I am also taking French lessons nowadays. I am loving it. There are some great videos to practice listening, for instance: innerfrench with Hugo and interviews with Samah Karaki. I love your videos, Jade.

To celebrate your first class, I had Google translate the words of the comment you’re now reading into Greek and then from the Greek into French. Deeper meanings can be discovered by multiple translations ~ the linear progression brings clearer understanding of not only the original thought, but also brings the personality of the commentator into sharper focus: Je me suis réveillé ce matin pour trouver un lama militaire hautement qualifié sur mon porche. Je n'ai même pas de porche. 🤔😄 *Google Translate down for maintenance until further notice 😄😄

So proud of you!! Not many Brits are so brave to learn a foreign language I think. What's your main motivation, to be able to read books in original, travel while using French etc.?.❤

My motivation is to reach a high level of French in order to read literature and great works. If speaking eventually comes from that, then that’s good. But I’m not setting that as a goal for the time being.

“Congratulations, Jade! 🎉 Your first French session is a triumph! 🇫🇷 As a fellow English speaker diving into other languages, it’s like breaking the linguistic barriers - we’ve come a long way from historical rivalries. I speak a handful of languages myself, including Spanish (despite the Spanish Armada hiccup). Keep embracing the linguistic adventure! 💬🌍 #LanguageJourney #UnityThroughWords”

My point of view as a teacher is that all students make mistakes, from the lowest beginner upwards (becoming less frequent as you go up). Nobody begins as the finished product and the ones who communicate the best just give it a go.
