Thanks for that.... any tips how to learn and memorize that? I am learning it already for a long time just by myself. Have still some problems at some little parts of pronunciation. But my biggest problem is to memorize it. How can I memorize such a long text of words that are so "strange" to my own language and that I cannot understand word by word? I am even more scared to rise the speed some day...

My suggestion would be to get an audio copy and just play it continuously when you're driving or resting at home.

@the current SGI members Dear SGI members, You have never ever answered the most important question I have been asking all SGI fellows. The reason why I left Soka Gakkai is not I didn't like SGI but its deviation from the core doctrine of Nichiren Daishonin. How you can ignore what Nichiren Daishonin said as " My life is the three great secret laws" On November 8th 2014, Soka Gakkai destroyed the three great secret laws. Please tell me why SGI could be a legitimate Buddhism of Nichiren Daishonin after you dump the life of Nichiren Daishonin? This slandering of Soka Gakkai has been my reason to leave from Soka Gakkai and trying to let you know the colossal error of SGI.

If you do it every am and pm you will naturally memorize it. It’s best to use the book so you can keep your pronunciation correct. While you are learning don’t worry about making errors, you get benefits by your efforts. Remember this is a Practice, we are all learning and growing every day no matter how long we’ve been a member. Just Never Give Up!

I’d recommend understanding the meaning of texts. It's kind of difficult to memorize the whole texts even for us Japanese, but it became somewhat easier once I tried to reffer the meaning. The point is to correspond the translation and the original words, for each word has a sense.

Hi! In short, these are two chapters from the Lotus Sutra; chapter 2 ("Expedient Means") and chapter 16 ("Life Span Of The Thus Come One"). In chapter 2, the buddha arises from his samadhi (state of deep meditation) and addresses Shariputra, one of his most faithful disciples. He explains how difficult and unfathomable the wisdom of a buddha is and that he uses expedient means such as parabels to convey the essence of this wisdom to living beings. He further points out that an immeasurable amount of time has passed since he attained buddhahood (called "kalpas" in the sutra which is a term for countless eons). In chapter 16, the Buddha refers to the expedient means once more, but also points out why it seems that he has gone into extinction. He explains that, if he would continuously dwell in this world, the people would soon become regressive and idle. Although it appears that he has departed this world, he is still here and points out that, if people truly wish to see the buddha from the depths of their heart, he will appear along with his retinue of monks and bodhisattvas. He then uses a parable of an experienced doctor with many children. If an experienced doctor, who has many children, leaves his home to travel abroad, he leaves his children temporarily. While absent, some of his children drink poison out of curiosity and become severely ill. Upon his return, they embrace him and ask him to cure them. He then proceeds to find the most potent medicinal herbs and other substances to create medicine for his children. Once finished, he brings with him the medicine and says "This will help to rid your body of the poison". Those of his children who didn't drink poison can clearly see that this is medicine and that it is effective. But the poisoned children refuse to take it. The poison has already penetrated deeply into their body and mind, so they are befuddled by its effect. No matter how patient or convicing the doctor or his non-poisoned children are, the poisoned children refrain from taking the medicine. Eventually, the doctor says "I've done anything I could, the medicine is available, but I won't force my children to take it". He leaves his home temporarily and the children are on their own. Later, they will believe that their father has departed and think that they have been abandoned. They fall into a state of great confusion, depression and vexation, but eventually, they will come to their senses and will take the medicine which restores their health within short time. Once cured, their father returns.
