This is the first tuning you’ve highlighted that I have never looked at whatsoever, so thanks a bunch, Dave and Lumatone! However, back in 1999, I refretted a mandolin to 44CET non-octave tuning (44-cent-per-step equal-temperament, not 44.444…). That _starts out_ similar, but gradually diverges. Admittedly, promptly thereafter, I got busy at work and I haven’t done much with it…

Wow, I've never considered 27 EDO. Your composition is superb!

I just found a killer progression. Gb subminor add neutral 6th (root, subminor 3rd, 5th, neutral 6th), slide into Gb major seventh (root, major 3rd, 5th, major 7th). Beautiful!!

A tip for 27-EDO: compress the octave to compensate for the sharpness of the approximations of odd harmonics. I recommend going with a step size of 44.3 cents.

The 15/8, however, is inconsistent(barely).

The chords didn't sound very good, but the sample piece at the end did! Which makes me wonder whether maybe this EDO requires something different than trying to come up with equivalents of the traditional chords?

Our standard way of notating music is based on meantone, which narrow the fifths from 3:2 so that 5-limit intervals are closer to just. This works in 12-EDO, 19-EDO, 31-EDO, and other meantone tunings, though 43, 50, 55, and beyond will get unwieldy since you'll need sharp-ups and sharp-downs. Superpythagorean tunings, on the other hand, _widen_ the fifths from 3:2 so that fifths and fourths stack to septimal (7-limit) subminor and supermajor intervals. 27-EDO is one of these tunings, as is 22-EDO. In 27-EDO, an A major triad is A - C sharp down - E. Since the fifth is sharp rather than flat, 27 is not meantone.

@@electric7487 Even so, the discrepancy between the chord samples and the sample piece is notable. Maybe the chord samples were of the wrong chords?

@@Lucius_Chiaraviglio That's probably because you're used to hearing chords in 12-EDO and meantone tunings.

@@electric7487 I don't think so, because I have heard good chords that sound good in other tunings (including some super-Pythagorean tunings), and besides, if it was true, then the sample piece wouldn't have sounded good to me.

27TET would never go over in China, I’m guessing: The digit 4 (四) is pronounced similarly with “to die” (死). (My wife is from China and we speak mostly Mandarin at home.)

Give this keyboard to a Bulgarian accordion/Bayan player and you will immediately NOT want to play this instrument anymore.
