Hey Bleu! I know this is an older video, but I have a question. Will self study/training hinder you from getting a job? Like, will employers want to know where you trained or does just having the certification all that matters?
@MedicalCodingwithBleu
@MedicalCodingwithBleu 2 жыл бұрын
Nope, it will not make a difference. All the employer is concerned with is are you certified, not how you got there. There may be some that prefer that the candidate was formally trained in medical terminology or anatomy and physiology but its often listed as "preferred" which doesn't mean required.

You can ONLY to study. Keep in mind that 2020 book was published in 2019 so we didn't know about the pandemic yet, none of those codes are in there. Again use it to study if that's all you have right now but you can't test with it and it doesn't have the latest codes so since if those codes maybe deleted or updated.

I have a major question. I have yet to be able to find an answer. I’m in my Medical Terminology course with AAPC. As I go along, there are several terms that mean the exact same thing ie: bi- & di- nucle/o & kary/o -phasia & -lalia hemi- & semi- quadr/i & tetra These are just a few - When I do my review exams at the end of the chapters & it asks a question where 1 of these would be used, how do I know which one to use. I typically always get it wrong by the answer key in the back. How do I know which one to use? Please respond & thank you in advance for your time.
@MedicalCodingwithBleu
@MedicalCodingwithBleu Жыл бұрын
You have to understand the context of what is happening in text. AAPC exams are 100%multiple choice and there are few medical terminology direct questions on the exam according to the website. Don't get to hung up on the medical terminology part right now. Keep practicing and you'll get it. That's just my advice anyway! Good luck to you.

I am already supposed to be finished with the Med Term & on my A& P but I’m trying to absorb everything so I’m taking my time. Can you tell me if labeling different aspects of the body is a major focal point for the test?
@MedicalCodingwithBleu
@MedicalCodingwithBleu Жыл бұрын
No, AAPC's test is multiple choice. There is no labeling of the body. I know its hard because its so much, but overthinking is more harmful than being forgiving of yourself and just practicing, practicing, practicing.

If I am brand new to medical coding do you think I should go with a 13 week training thru workforce development or the short certificate that is 57 hrs, both are thru two different community colleges? I was just laid off, I think I will qualify for WIOA workforce development. The one for 57 hours is very detailed covers a lot from Revenue Cycle Management and Documentation to Ambulatory coding. Everything you said about the FB group is true. There were some good info, but majority of it was complaints, not finding a job. I’m so glad I found your channel. 😊
@MedicalCodingwithBleu
@MedicalCodingwithBleu 6 ай бұрын
no, no no no no! It can not be learned that fast. 13 weeks is a billing program that you will probably end up with a certificate that on one asks for and you do not have to have experience or training to be a biller. You won't learn anything worth knowing about coding in a program that short. Please do you research about programs that are longer that will accept the WIOA voucher.

Lizmari, again my name is Bleu, not "blue", please spell it right. Medical coders are about detail. Not only that, its a respect thing. If you are not able to pass the pre CCA exam, you are mostly likely not ready for the degree program. The degree programs are for leaders, if thats not what you want to do, then stick with the coding. Instead of just giving up on your test, STUDY HARDER. The degree program is really hard and more expensive, especially if you are not going to push yourself to study harder.
