@xdarrenx
@xdarrenx Жыл бұрын
Sorry for being a smartass but, the original recording of MOP doesn't use that much distortion at all, at least compared to modern day metal. This is actually what makes it great, u still have the low mids being clear giving good rhythmic "thuds" creating a stronger rhythm, something which is lost with too much gain. Modern bands compensate this by doing the "djent" sound, where they just play more staccato, so they still get strong "thuds" which was lost by too much gain, or they add more double kick drums to push rhythm harder. Metallica's distortion is more a beefed up hard rock sound. They sound more metal because of multi tracking and mid scooping, not having over the top gain.

Palm mute every time you pick the open E and it'll be perfect. Palm muting is super tough if you've never practiced it. Just think of the palm muted position as your default hand position and sort of bounce your hand up when you need to ring out a note or chord. With a bit of practice it'll start to feel natural.
