It's incredible that you had mentioned some photographers that I follow as well, in my journey to becoming a better photographer. However, I consider you to be part of that league already and have drawn so much inspiration from watching your videos. Thank you!

Acquiring is different from studying is perfect. It's easy to understand the theory and much harder to practically apply it. There is no other way as an artist, we've got to put in the reps.

I found your channel for the ricoh gr but I found a content that's very personal and relaxing while also being informative without getting into a sort of hype train copying what many others are doing! Thanks for these videos :)

Your vision and passions comes across clearly ,it's good too have drive and your own style. But if you make the mistake in thinking" better gear "will give you better results you might fall into the trap that 90% of media channels do and photographers. It's partly acquiring but also study, but once you have that knowledge extract from it what you can then create your own path. There is nothing wrong with nice gear and cool toys , it's fun but your 1300g of brain, light and luck will give you your best results. Alan Watts said " everyone is interested in something , but if we all teach each other the same route it becomes all wretch and no vomit" Your channel is great , your ethos and passion is energetic and cool, I just fear you comment about gear might be not help grow your channel or make you happy with photography later down the line. I will say hi when I'm in Japan Thanks for sharing

So true.... acquiring is different from studying. I can tell you how to do quite a lot of things, but actually doing some well takes trial and error practice time.

I freaking love your work. I dont know where to start, I am in that phase where I see tons of YT videos and I know only the basics, but your work gives me a lot of inspiration. Maybe one of these days I'll go outside and try with the minimum knowledge I have.

Thanks for the great video. It’s very motivating and inspiring. And also, I totally agree with you. I’ve also watched a lot of videos on street photography especially POV’s. Seeing different ways different street photographers see things, how they frame their photo and how they scout out for potential shots. They really helped me to start seeing things differently when I go out to shoot. Photos are much more interesting and definitely have a lot more creativity when it comes to the composition and framing for the shots.

I really enjoy watching your process through your POV. I was watching closely when you were framing up your shot with the upside down umbrellas thinking "ooo, how is he gonna frame this." Your videos have definitely inspired me to look for more creative compositions!

The POV videos are great but if you ever feel like you don’t want to do that, this would be fine too. I’m following for your insight and admiring your work, that can be shown in many ways.

Awesome, thank you! I will do what I feel like doing of course, and POV will be part of the different formats I have on the channel ;)

I agree fully with this perspective of the kinesthetic learning process in photography. I spent 1 year travelling with my X-T2 literally in my hand all day every day from morning to night, and I improved a lot over that time. As with anything progress plateaus appear, where you need to then gain new input from external sources, like other artists. The hardest part for me is understanding when that time has come. In the moment it feels like regular frustration, or boredom, and I'm prone to blame the weather, location, etc. as an excuse to avoid the heavy lifting of finding the path to the next peak. I'm reminded of towns we have here in México. Struggling in the desert only a few hundred kilometers from a natural spring water source with rich dense forest. How were they to know not to settle yet? The desert feels infinite when you're in it. For me Lucasz of EyeXplore helped a lot with understanding space as a subject, and working a scene. Environmental context wasn't something I was looking for before. And also Pat Kay with his videos appreciating the 24mm and 85mm focal length helped me to understand what I'm looking for regardless of lens choice. Watching your progress curve here is very enlightening also, so I appreciate your commitment to sharing ideas and building community. ✌️
