I love this video. I come back to it every time I need to use my Sailrite sewing machine. Great videos for someone who has never sewn. Awesome machine. I sewed through five layers of the strapping on a pool cover with this machine to make a pool cover smaller to fit our pool. Only broke a few needles and one internal part that was easy to reorder and replace in the machine. This think is awesome! Just sewed a strap back on my leather sandals using the hand turning wheel with no electricity. My wife has sewn sail covers, hatch covers, fender covers, made homemade sails on this machine. It is one tough piece of equipment! Worth its weight in gold.

Great video, thanks! I've actually been sewing for a long time, but refreshers are always helpful, especially with a new machine. Thanks! Also...I'm having a HORRIBLE time controlling the speed of my XL2600i. Maybe it's because I've been using a 45 year old Necci for 30 years, but practicing doesn't seem to help at all...I've tried stitch guides...everything. It's just too fast to even stitch in a straight line, rendering it completely unusable at this point. Any suggestions you can offer would be great. Thanks! :)

This machine seems amazing.I love the tutorials and the machines are priced great for all they do. I'm looking to purchase one to sew only leather...(Python, snakeskin, ostrich, stingray) Will this particular machine be able to handle that? Thanks
@SailriteDIY9 жыл бұрын
SidHimSelf If you plan on only sewing leather you may only need the Ultrafeed LS-1 sewing machine. It is a straight stitch only machine and will save you even more money since it is cheaper. However, both the LS-1 and LSZ-1 (shown in this video) will sew leather very well. Here is a video showing sewing some of the max leather sewing applications: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nrx8f9mYtdLWcn0.html

I do not have one these machines yet, but I am leaning toward it. One of my questions is the noise that I have heard is loud. Any thoughts on this? And does the monster wheel help.
@SailriteDIY6 жыл бұрын
Joe, The sewing machine sews and feeds fabric with ease, but it is a rather loud sewing machine. Sure the "Monster II Balance Wheel" does help keep the noise level down. Why? Because it is one solid steel piece unlike the standard "Power Plus Wheel" which has an open/empty cavity that tends to bounce the noise around a bit more.

@lighthouseworshipcenter37488 жыл бұрын
question, can an industrial straight stitch sewing machine be change to a walking foot. and what is the difference .
@SailriteDIY8 жыл бұрын
A true mechanical walking foot cannot be added to a sewing machine that was not built for it, sorry. Some companies sell a walking foot attachment, but all it does is raise the presser foot when the needle goes up. It does not actually make the presser feet work with the feed dog, so they do very little.
@lighthouseworshipcenter37488 жыл бұрын
thank you for your quick response. So i guess my question now is do i need a walking foot to do upholstery. or can i get away with a machine that is not a walking foot.
@SailriteDIY8 жыл бұрын
You do not need to buy a true walking foot sewing machine to sew upholstery. However, it does make sewing much easier, so you may want to consider it in the future.

Im not sure to many people have that model machine and think you shownig how to thred that machine is going to confuse alot of people , the reason i say this is because yours is the first machine ive seen where you candicane the thred around a guide. hello i really do not know what kind of thread to buy i just got my new machine yesterday and i need to know what kind of thread do i need
@SailriteDIY7 жыл бұрын
This may help: Usually a Polyester or Nylon V-69 is used with Upholstery fabric (medium weight fabrics) and a Polyester V-92 is used with Marine Grade fabric (heavier fabrics). For very light fabrics pick a V-46 or V-30 thread. Do not use Nylon thread for any outdoor use. However, I want you to know the whole truth about threads for outdoor use, this is especially important if you live in a tropical or desert environment (High UV exposure). Keep reading to find out about Polyester thread and PTFE threads… THREADS FOR OUTDOOR USE - POLYESTER vs PTFE: Polyester thread is UV resistant, but not UV proof. It depends on the climate and how much UV it gets on how long it will last. I usually consider two types of thread for outdoor projects: Polyester or PTFE threads (like Tenara or Profilen). The PTFE threads will last the life time of the fabric no matter the climate and they are chemical resistant. However, PTFE threads are expensive and more difficult to sew with. Profilen PTFE thread sews easier than Tenara PTFE on an oscillating hook sewing machine (like our Ultrafeed sewing machines). Most customers pick Polyester thread because it is less expensive and easy to sew with. If you purchase Polyester thread the best colors are Black and White, they are solution dyed (colors run all the way through the thread) the other colors are only coated on the surface and will eventually fade faster. Let me know if you have more questions.

@SailriteDIY8 жыл бұрын
+Jaimee K If it is our machine the manual is an excellent 4 color manual that will easily show how to insert the needle and much more (however our older manuals were in need of improvement so if your machin is 8 years old or older then that may be the issue).
