As it was requested, here's an update on my 'professional waterskiing' journey.
What started out as a fun session during a photoshoot has become a serious hobby - and who knows, maybe down the line I'll compete!
When I first got home to Ireland with the ski, I was running the course at 46km/h however I've managed to up it to 52km/h. Today my goal is to learn how to run the course at 55km/h and maybe even try the competition speed of 58km/h!
A big thanks to Eamon from Wake N Ski for not only towing me, but also coaching and teaching me. Pointing out all the little mistakes which I need to improve.
Thanks for watching.
Dave

Your 55km was the nicest pass ,it is just time on the water ,that will help you improve . Your body position at 55km was spot on. thanks for the video ,seeing skiers out having fun ,not taking themselves too seriously is fun to watch .Good on ya :)

Great progress! I told you, 36mph-it's fast! Keep running at 34mph to hone your technique, at 36mph your technique is key to getting you to the buoy with time to make your turn, cutting back past the buoy, not passing it at the start of your turn and making you late for the next. Ideally you want to treat a turn as you would in a car on track, setting your sight line early, slow in, fast out- to maximise control and exit speed. There's a lot to do at 36mph... and don't forget those exit gates : ) I think you're doing brilliantly!

That's so interesting about it being the same as a car on track - that I can relate to. Yes, going to get my technique 100% and then try 36mph. But it's so enjoyable getting the progress like that!

You are absolutely shredding! Love to see ya getting after it in all water sports.. gates don't matter in practice!! I met ya at cornfest a few years back.. I think long distance jumping is next! Come out to Minnesota and we'll have ya dialed

Haha I'm going to quote you on 'gates don't matter' haha. I'm scared of the long distance jumping, but who knows - maybe I'll need to man up for 3 event lol!

Nice stuff. You looked good out there. Time to step up to the GC Titanium. I was distracted during the video by what appears to be bird poo all over the dash of that beautiful Nautique 200 🤣

Cheers to all tow sports! We call it slippery slalom, but you set the boat speed to like 15mph and see how short you can get the rope. We use a trick ski, but a wakeboard would be fun too.

Great progress David. Your athletic ability and ski control has taken you this far, but time to get some coaching! I’m sure Glenn Campbell will help you out this year. Now you have nailed the rhythm and swing element try to work on correct body position, this will give you more width out to the buoy. Arms straight behind the boat and try to close the gap between your pelvis and the handle, which is pretty much the opposite of a wakeboard approach to the wake. Lock this position in early and let the boat’s cruise control whip you across the course 😊

Your getting there. Good job. As you shorten the rope down to say 40 ft, your really going to have to pull and dig, getting your body fully horizontal or parallel with the water with just 6 inches of the ski or just the skeg in the the water.
