Here is an update of learning touch typing from scratch (Relearning typing correctly and eliminating bad habits). I show my results after 11 weeks of practice. The first speed test is on my genius desktop keyboard, then I move on to my Lenovo laptop and test how I perform with a short travel chiclet keyboard.
I use typingclub.com lessons a couple of times a week but mostly do many many 10fastfinger speed tests every day.

My 2nd week and i'm plateau at 30 wpm's with full punctuation. Started from about 6 wpm. I don't care too much about the speed as to be able to touch type at all. :) Thinking to add numbers and special characters now as i need them when programming. Also i am forcing myself to touch type every time i take notes, write YT comments, chat and so on. Where the speed is not critical. I think it helps a lot. :)

looks like at the start you actually kept your right hand starting on h keep it on j and one more thing i found that to go faster i actually had to type slower but without mistakes that is how i got faster and now im like 65-70 average sometimes even get 80 and one more thing i found out was pretty helpful was that my keyboard was not placed right i had to adjust it cm by cm and found what was most comfortable for me hope this helps :))

Hello, till now I have been typing just using two fingers, and I am around 45wpm. I wanna get to 70-80 wpm. Should I learn touch typing from scratch? I started learning it but I always get demotivated from the slow progress, my mind is not able to adapt. How long does it take usually? If I start to practice 1 hour a day.

@@Mmmmmkoogfssdvbhvggg yes yes yes surely i know how you feel you should totally start from scratch like how i did i would recommend you this website to begin www.typingclub.com/ its up to you how much you want to practice for me i got a good speed in like 3 weeks and also the layout of your keyboard depends on you , you can get good speeds with any layout with enough practice i am 65-70 average wpm now depends on whether the paragraph your typing has many symbols and punctuations or not and after you learn to type using typing club you should totally start practicing at type racer because it makes you type punctuation marks too unlike 10fff or monkeytype(monkey type has the option to turn on punctuation marks but type racer is preferred) Hope this helps :)))

wow 90 is very fast. Congrats. Tbh I didn't set a goal, just wanted to learn to 10 finger touch type without looking at the keyboard and I've achieved that. Not been practicing that much lately though. 64 is my current max.
