In this lesson I want to show you how to begin improvising over a 12 bar blues by focusing on the minor pentatonic scale and emphasizing chord tones during a 12-bar blues progression. Targeting specific notes-the root (1), fourth (4), and fifth (5) of the scale-that correlate with the A, D, and E chords in a blues progression, he highlights the importance of playing notes that match the underlying chords to sound more melodic and intentional.
He provides a step-by-step approach, including locating the A, D, and E notes in pentatonic patterns, applying the concept in a quick-change 12-bar blues backing track, and using techniques like slides, bends, hammer-ons, and vibrato to enrich the sound. He suggests that mastering this in one position before moving across the fretboard and learning in different positions is key to improving.
You can download the video backing track used at the link below.

Great lesson! This issue I think all of us beginners have is we have zero idea what key we are in. I can hear the change... but is it a D, an A... an E? No idea. Your chord changing visual is great and I wish we could custom build it for every backing track we have ;)

Thanks for the great lesson! first time I have seen you.. subscribed. Gotta ask though.. am I the only one though that thinks that Strat sounds terrible? Guess it could just be my speakers but that thing really grates on my ears.

I really like this. Thanks for pointing out the notes.I have been learning to find the places to find like all the A's and D', etc all over the fretboard. The bends and slides are helpful too.
