Off-topic, but I have watched some of your videos on lighting up a band. Our spread (5-piece band) is too wide to do a 10 ft. truss. Is there a way to light the stage well with T-Bars? Or should I look at putting a truss over the drums?

If you are already using cat6 cable can you use internet splitter? Saving money and still working dmx?

No, just because it uses cat6 cabling doesn’t mean it is IP

@@andym2225 good to know I wasn't sure if the equipment used a particular protocol or if it was just a hub for raw data. I know some hubs for dmx run cat then open back to dmx so I wasn't sure if it was like using an rs232

Hi David. I recently discovered your videos and I love what you’re doing! Such excellent content - thank you! I’m planning a modern and open standard for entertainment lighting data and power. Some key goals are using 48V combined power and data cable (scroller) for running fixtures, usually an LED light or LED pixel strip section up to 500W. Data can be split, noded or daisy chaining like DMX but with power up to the port limit. Data in this open standard includes larger frames (>512) and bi-directional data for fast remote control/monitoring in place of RDM. The physical cabling supports DMX and RDM for backwards compatibility. I believe dmx/rdm (rs485) and Ethernet (art/sacn/proprietary) data takes a large portion of time planning, rigging and debugging a show. Things have got a bit silly with so many different options and with LED pixel mapping being so common. Lighting tech has become less visual effect focus and more data/networking. I’d love to discuss this more and ask for your input. Please let me know if so and I’ll get in touch!

He promotes HI end products and is Reluctant to Do any real content on the Obey 70 controller. Sad how this channel is all about HI Doller equipment. Shame on you David

Your Biased on alot of products, sad you can't even figure out the Obey 70 and show how to use it properly. You just call it Crap and move on. 1000s of people use this dmx controller, but you choose to Kick it to the curb because you can't figure it out correctly to make a real video on the Obey 70. Sad how you talk up the $1000s doller light boards ,but you run from the cheap alternative.

Hi Dave, we are not biased towards the Obey 70, But most modern fixtures have large channel counts and unfortunately the Obey is no great at handling many channels per fixture.
