Well done. I live in northern Michigan and this is one of my favorite trees. The dark green hue is so comforting. You really caught me off guard eating the new growth lol. Had no idea it was edible, the smell of crushed hemlock needles is amazing though.

Adam I’ve gotten so I hurry and try to say the mushrooms before you do to see if I’m picking up on them correctly. Got both of these right, thank YOU sooooo much! Your teachings have really helped me along and I couldn’t be happier. I wanted to tell you, I’m growing some wood sorrel in a pot with several other lettuces and such. I shared it with my grandkids and I thought they’d eat it all. LOL I couldn’t believe how much they loved it. I know it’s a simple thing but I’m hoping to encourage their natural curiosity and not have them be so put off by eating natural things and raw. Obviously I’m very careful. They aren’t even allowed to touch a plant (unless in my garden) without my permission. And they’re very good. They stop every time they see something and ask. I paused the video when you showed the Hemlock needles and went outside and sure enough my neighbor has them along the fenceline. i was thinking thats what they were, so very cool to know because they are mixed in with the mulberry trees on my side of the fence that I just went out and shook today. Always nice to walk through those beautiful Pennsylvania woods with you. I miss them. When I was a kid I was always in those woods of PA as I lived there in my childhood. I still hang out in the woods as an adult wherever I live tho. My place of peace. Thanks Adam!

In the last couple years, mixed deciduous and Hemlock forests have become one of my favourite areas to hunt for mushrooms! You are absolutely right. They do have a somewhat magical quality about them, and they have a special place in my heart

Years ago, I translated Hemlocks from the forest to my property and for years I've been nipping off the new Spring growth to thicken the foliage on the tree. Wish I had known that I could eat the new growth. Well, since seeing your video, I've been dining on them. I love the flavor, to my taste buds it tastes like lime, so I started adding it to my vegan Thai curry dishes and it not only adds flavor, but a nice little crunch. Amazing! Do you know if the older growth is also edible I'm going to gobble all the new growth before long?

I'm lucky I have the old hard woods and a small Hemlock forest....so much fungi here I can hardly grow grass in the yard😉it's all moss! People want to know why I don't do something about it...lol! I love the mushrooms and moss that grow in the yard. Not to mention.... You have to mow much less with a mossy yard. And it's beautiful!!! Thanks again.... I was able to find chaga in VA at a high elevation. It is in a very special place with lots of other medicinal plants and mushrooms. Also thank you very much for all the videos that you put out I really enjoy watching them because they are very educational thank you again

Great video man. And what a find with that chaga on a black birch, I've never seen that before, very rare as you said. One cool thing with that nettle is if you do get scratched by it jewel weed is usually near by. Ill just take the stem of jewel weed and squeeze the juices out where I got scratched, within 30 seconds the sting is completely gone. Nature is amazing. Thank you for all your videos. Ive learned so much and I truly appreciate it.

Great finds, medicine secured! 😊 Chaga is pretty darn hard to find, I only know about one "infected" tree close to where I live, and it's pretty much a birch forest! Trees are cut down so young, chaga does not have time to develop those growths.. Amazing video as always!

I'm reminded of the time I worked for a tree company and shot hort oil up into the canopies of Hemlocks to combat wooly adelgid. I saved hundreds of Hemlocks from dying over the years.
