White Birch forests are a-mazing. And one mushroomed mentioned that should really stick out is Honey Mushroom. I was taught this one as "popinki" because, Eastern Europe! They're also noticeable because they can be seen at night (foxfire, greenish glow). They fry up something fantastic and make great soup. In my experience they've got a nice crispness when fried properly. Notably an Autumn mushroom mostly but when they grow, bring a couple baskets.

This was such a great video! My bf and I were out hiking through the woods in New Hampshire this weekend, and we looked up and saw something high up in a white birch tree underneath a broken branch that was black and frothy. We wondered if it was a chaga, which we had been looking for during our hikes these past couple of weeks but never were able to successfully identify. Well, after watching this video, I can confirm that we definitely saw a chaga! Recently, we've been learning about different types of trees growing in nearby forests that I've never paid attention to in the past. It's kind of like rediscovering a new aspect of nature.

As well as wild woodlands, there are a lot of pine plantations near me (one being within walking distance, conveniently). Lots of people moan about the pine plantations, but a few years ago I started walking through them and found lots of different types of mushrooms. After studying these mushrooms very, very carefully, it took me a couple of years to pluck up courage and start using them. Now I look forward to autumn mushroom season - finding Boletes, Chanterelles, Hen-Of-The-Woods, Amethyst Deceivers, Hedgehog Mushrooms, and wild Oysters. Fantastic video. I will put this on my save list!

I look forward to learning more from you and your videos. I have family and I vacation as often as I can in northern lower Michigan. I’ve been going up there over thirty years and I’m only confident in identifying morel mushrooms. I look forward to learning to identify a much larger variety. Thanks for the education!

Do BC Canada next!! Hahahha just kidding, but it would be so rad. I'm a berry fiend and I know a bunch of the native stuff around here but I bet there's some I'm avoiding that I could eat. Anyways, you rock brother. 🤙
