PYRENEES leash training in 10 mins
Things you see in this video.
- First meeting with a client
- preparing the dog in medium distractions
- re-teaching the basic leash commands
- getting attention force-free
- Redirecting force-free
- establishing a basic secure bond
- full version from start to finish
Finally, the guardian takes the lead and applies what they learned, dog and guardian are better communicating and the Pyrenees respond even when “at the threshold” in under 20 mins.
You will not see any:
- aversive handling
- any aversive tools ( collars or leash correction)
- manual handling ( poking, kicking, pushing, blocking)
At no point, the dog feels domination, intimidation, fear or guilt etc.

He is behaving like a GP. Watching and surveiling the environment. This is an independent Livestock guardian Dog. Very beautiful

Awe sorry to hear that .. I have a Great Pyrenees myself, he’s a big just 8months old boy .. they do like to do things in their own way.. so as not to get frustrated (I have an Australian Shepherd who loves to obey) I don’t demand as much and give him lots of praise He also loves beef lung treats, that helps. I train my dogs often throughout the day to stay n come with treats while we are in the house, so when we go outside he’s accustomed to listening to me I also try n make it fun, definitely not fear based Ty!!!!

I understand the sentiment, excusing certain behaviors as LGD tendencies. From my personal experience, the intensity of the "curiosity" is all dependent on the task provided by the owner, intentionally or not. When a dog is stronger than its owner, the mental aspect of leading a dog becomes paramount. This boy probably had his share of thinking he needed to protect this lovely human owner. Dogs will alpha, especially a Great Pyr.

Dogs don’t alpha relationships! wolf.org/headlines/44265/ The behavior depends on environmental factors, age, heritable traits, trauma, health confirmation, and education to name a few. Dogs do what works best to achieve their goals. The more we resist the more the dog will push against the resistance.

@@HolisticDogTraining I have a pyr whose 17 months old now, and he's intact. Everybody is telling me to neuter him. They say he'll get in more fights at the dog park, that I won't be able to take him there. I'm concerned that he'll have less energy and be less happy if I neuter him, but I've also heard neutering increases a dog's lifespan, so I'm confused as to what to do. What do you think?

@@christophergrennan4485. Most vets will not neuter large breeds before 3 years of age. There is no guarantee that he will be less aggressive if you do have him fixed.

Do your own research. I did and would never neuter or spay. My intact Great Pyrenees is 7 years old now and is fantastic. I would never take a dog to a dog park.
