I had a world recently with it within a few hundred blocks of spawn on the surface. My game was borked though, because I left the world mid character creation in single-player and loaded the world on a dedicated server. Loaded two of me, and people could only see the one that didn't move.

Lime can also be obtained by crushing chalk, which can spawn as a surface layer. It is really easy to recognize the biome due to the color, search for white areas on the map!

You can crush chalk into lime or sea shells

cant find any limestone or chalk . i did find marble 1000 blocks out and could be grinded into lime

You can use chalk as an alternative for limestone, also I think that some traders sell some of the ingredients that you need

@@sapphicseas0451 both chalk and limestone are sedimentary rocks (and sedimentary rocks are almost always right below the soil), so just run around and look at mountains and in caves and you'll surely find them

You can grind sea shells in a quern to get lime in a pinch

You can use chalk too, and there are large chalk areas out there. You can also grind sea shells you find. But finding a big chalk area is the best bet. Go out and explore and they're easy to spot. Big white areas.

Because that's basically the entire design ethos of the game. Things mean more when they take time, and forcing the player to wait for progress helps them appreciate where they are. It won't work like that for everyone, of course, but that's the idea.

Cause then it would just be minecraft, and that's a baby game. My daughter plays minecraft, but I'm an adult male. So I play Vintage story, because babies can't play Vintage story

The wait is far from long if you actually do something useful with that time instead of watching your barrels for 4.5 days, especially if you make several full batches of leather at the same time.

You have hunter's backpacks an linen sacks as alternatives while you wait for your leather to be ready.
