Customer sent me these boots for a standard resole with JR leather. The boots were in great shape so no extraordinary measures were needed. A standard resole, with JR leather and Vibram Eton rubber top lifts.
Even the uppers were fine so they only needed a quick cleaning and some new oiled leather cream.

Of course, "like and subscribe!" Your videos truly stand out, because of your clarity in each step. I would only agree with other viewers positive comments. Seeing you clean as you go sets a good example. Thank you and bless you. DJ in Knoxville TN

Nice job with the resole. For some reason, I was never a fan of the wolverine 1000 mile profile. The shape rubs me wrong. But the boots do look better after the resole.

Fantastic video! Great to see you wearing an Omega while doing authentic work. So many people tend to baby their watches. I really enjoy your channel. Thank you for taking the time to make videos!

I like how in this job (more of a calling, really) some machines are vintage. Is this because they don't make them anymore? Seems a lot of cobblers have vintage equipment.

Why do you polish the soles? Is Saphir brand the best shoe care products on the market? I use Saphir but the products are very expensive. Is their a cheaper alternative that works just as well? Thank you for the videos.

I polish the soles to make the finish prettier. It's just aesthetic. I have not yet found anything better than Saphir Medaille d'Or, but there may be other brands as good. Probably not cheaper though. There are some specific products from other brands that I sometimes prefer over Saphir, but they often have other disadvantages. Stay with Saphir and you'll be safe.

What glue do you use, I want to put sole protectors on my own boots

You really should have a cobbler do it for you. A cobbler knows which glue to use. It depends on the materials, and we have the machinery to prep the surfaces and to press the soles the correct way. I used a neoprene based contact adhesive in the video.

Maybe you could try and turn the volume down or mute it, and it wouldn't irritate you so much. Look for a symbol with an overcrossed loudspeaker. 😄 Try my newer videos. I've eliminated the background noices when shooting them so I can keep more of the work sounds.

Please get rid of the horrible music. Speak to us in your videos. Talk, explain and educate us. Often times I know what you are doing but have no knowledge of why you are doing it in a certain way. Your verbal explanation would be a real education to me. I know you are a real craftsman. I can see that you are as I watch you work. But, still, an explanation is often necessary for someone like me who has so little experience. These tips are given with sincerity. Thank you for the videos, my brother. Keep up the good work and make the videos better with your voice and your explanation of your procedures. Thank you. John

Well hello again John Smith. I appreciate your polite comment. I also appreciate your views on my chosen format. Maybe more and more people want longer videos, with more information. But when I started the KZfaq-channel it was just meant for my swedish customers, so speaking in english would seem lame and arrogant. And sinse english is not my native language, I don’t feel comfortable speaking it unscripted and relaxed, with a bad swedish accent, on video. The indended recipients are also rarely interested in too much details. Furthermore, I felt that the average viewer want short videos. I personally like watching sped up craft videos, and sinse there are plenty of skilled cobblers offering the longer format with a lot of talking, my chosen format fit me perfectly. By speeding up the video, I can fit more craft into it, and keep it short. Sinse I don’t want to talk in the videos, I thought some music from the KZfaq-library (royalty free), would make it less boring to watch. In some parts I’ve had to remove the video sound alltogether for different reasons, and that would sound strange, without a soundtrack. The videos are now beeing viewed by more people outside my customer base, and from abroad, so I’ve switched from swedish subtitles to english. Maybe it is time to rethink my format, but many people say they like it. And I still like it. And I am still very much uncomfortable speaking english on video. For now I will keep the current format. Perhaps you can mute the video, and play your own soundtrack. In the future I might make them differently, if enough people encourage me. Who knows. You are not the first to say these things. Still, more people like the format. I do appreciate your interest though. Very much. I will keep it in mind for future productions. I have plans for a kind of video blog, where i talk about welted shoes, sizes and lasts, and a series of lessons in shoe care. I would feel like an idiot doing it in english though, but maybe I can add subtitles, and skip the music. /Marcus - Davidsons Skomakeri

@@davidsonsshoerepair As you mentioned I really enjoy the sped up process and the music choice is to my taste as well. There are many other cobblers that talk about the details, I think these videos are great the way they are.
