I can't believe I forgot to mention the ring cutter! it is a little jaws opposite the shears, is on both the Response and Rescue models, and works wonderfully! In the past I have used a more traditional ring cutter and it was both painful for the patient and injured him a little bit, which although it was mild it really just didn't look that smooth and a kind of wish I had never been part of that whole thing. I have used this to cut someone's ring off and it worked fantasticly!

Shouldn't that be able to also be able to take the heat of autoclave time after time - handle material? And a tip, there are increasing amoun ot cars which have laminated glass side windows too... The bresking tip makes a dent, but shattering.

That ring cutter is excellent and what I appreciate is, it doesn't pinch one's hand when the shears are closed.

Thank you for YOUR service! A recent controversy I read about made me realize that I got this job because I like it. And I know that you do too! It is helpful to the community, but like any role, volunteer or paid, we started and continue for myriad reasons, one of which is helping others, and other reasons can include good (or even not good) things that drive us.

Here's a neat tip: Buy a phone lanyard / bungee, they only cost a tenner and attach one of the Leatherman Raptor's handles and then you won't lost it. Okay, I made a small adjustment in putting some shrink-wrap around one of my Raptor's shear's handles - it's a lot slimmer. I work for helicopter emergency service (HEMS) in the UK and use these Raptors almost every day we have a casualty. These medical shears are not cheap, but are indispensable. Also I use a Victorinox XXL in my work. Not for everyone I'll agree, but I'm never without mine when airborne. I'm very pleased for finding you, and thank you for the 'like' you put on a previous video I commented on. I hope to be more active on your channel, depending on the day. My very best wishes to you, Wendi 🌻 PS, never buy cheap as you'll see them on some sites. The quality is never good, whereas the Raptor has 420HC stainless steel. That is a pretty hard steel!

Thanks, Wendi! That is a great idea!! We love our helicopter folks, who in this area transfer our really sick and injured people to larger hospitals. We are proud of ourselves because we package them up really nice for you guys! I have to admit, I'm as impressed as hell at your Victorinox XXL. That is amazing..SO much stuff on there!!! And you actually use it!! Very pleased to have met you! Anne

Nice product overview. Looks like a functional item for a professional, for sure. I am not one and lose/misplace things constantly, so not a good buy for me. 😊 Thanks for sharing the information. Cool to learn about all the on-board features.

Thanks! I really like it! I like it so much I recently modded my pants pocket so I could carry it. Maybe I'll make a video to show that.

I don't really like the holster, either. The angle adjustment is ok, but like most Kydex holsters, they are UNCOMFORTABLE after an hour, or so of wearing it on a belt. Other than that, this tool is awesome. The shears are very strong, the belt cutter just works, and the glass breaker is effortless (Wear gloves, or your hand will start leaking.) It is my EDC tool in addition to a Leatherman Super Tool 300. One, or the other, sometimes both, get used daily.

Ooh, yes, the Supertool! Very interesting, tough combination of tools. I am excited to try out the SOG Parashears as a comparison, which I recently ordered while it was on sale. My hopes aren't too high, but I like that it has some regular tools on it as a more compact option. Might make a good option for a jump bag...

Hi have just watched Ocean Rescue in Namibia; they help rescue seals that are being injured by netting and other plastic debry. They use the same tools in their Rescue work!

I’ve found most first responders and EMT’s, firefighters I know have had issues with raptors.why I chose XShears..plus I feel all I need is shears..not all the gimmicks..I’m a Fire Fighter/First Responder so if I have turnout pants on..I have all the other items..on a Resque wrench actually..Thank you for sharing

Thank you so much for watching and commenting! It's good to get some feedback from others about the Raptor Rescues. I went and looked at the Res-Q-Rench - great find! ( although their spelling makes them hard to look up.) I found them at multiple stores; here they are at Amazon: TFT Res-Q-Rench Folding Spanner Multi Tool a.co/d/gDzbNMB. Here they are from the mfg website: tft.com/product/span1 It's a firefighter multitool for under $30. Dude, do a review of that on your channel!

You won't find many experienced medics going for these. First of all the cost is ridiculous. If you actually do any amount of jobs, you know you are going to lose scissors. Mine have neon colored handles and a distinctive loop of paracord that allows me to clip them on something or tell them apart from everyone else's. And, I still lose a few a year. EMS workers are poorly paid and can't afford $100 a shot for scissors. So, they will be watching out for their scissors when their mind should be on other more important things. And, who wants to be unfolding these things? That's one feature I can't figure out. Maybe it goes along with ankle holsters for tourniquet and other silly stuff. As with most multi-tools they do a lot of things, but none of them particularly well. I haven't seen them cut much better than the Pakistani ones that you can bulk buy (10) for less than $2 ea. And, not as well as the German made or US made. Yes, there are actually US-made ones. They are hard to find as it seems like they are only made for gov't contracts. I used to get them from my cousin when he was in the navy. You can sometimes see them at surplus auctions. In any case, the Pakistani ones will still cut through any clothing and pennies they have in their pockets. As far as the other stuff. The hook blades are silly. A scissor that can cut through a penny can cut a seat belt? Since the stems on most oxygen tanks take a beating those oval-shaped tools often won't fit on them. A small adjustable wrench is better and you can tighten or loosen other things with them. A spring loaded center punch is much better for windows as you won't spray the patient(s) with glass fragments as often happens with the striker type. And, I don't think that ring cutter will work on a wedding ring. Which is the most common type you run into.
