As a very young African American little boy born in the middle 50s, this was one of my favorite shows. But because it aired one year after I was born, the episodes that I would watch they were in their teens. But later on they started showing reruns and that’s when I got a chance to appreciate the characters because they were younger and in my opinion funnier. But hands down my favorite character was Eddie Haskel.

I mention in my book that I learned to love the show after seeing Jerry Mathers and Jay North (Dennis the Menace) interviewed by Charlie Rose back in 1981 or 1982. Jerry was so thankful for his experience and didn't have one bad word to say about LITB. However, Jay North had nothing good to say about his life, his experience on Dennis the Menace, etc. I stopped watching Dennis the Menace then and began watching LITB. Have loved it and Jerry Mathers ever since.

Wow this video is absolutely priceless. It was great to finally see Hugh Beaumont in some thing. I can’t for the life of me figure out why they didn’t have more reunion shows. It would’ve been great to have had a reunion show in 1968,73, 78, 83.

always wondered how still the beaver would have been like had hugh beaumont had lived. always thought the clip they showed in the 83 movie of beaver reading the essay about his father was a nice tribute to both ward cleaver and the man who portrayed him. to this day when i see that episode on metv i always cry when beaver reads that essay at the end of it

It would really have been a greater reunion if Larry Mondelo, Whitey, Gilbert, Judy, and Mary Ellen Rogers would have been present during this taping, even though most of these actors have passed on, the imprint that they left in our memories will never be forgotten, thanks for the memories.

Maybe they only wanted or could afford to bring in actors who appeared in every season to the reunion. Too many characters would have diluted the reunion for the time alloted. I do agree it would have been neat to see everyone you mentioned plus Alma Hansen and Julie Foster. Stephen Talbot (Gilbert) wanted nothing to do with LITB in 1980.

All one can do now is look back, smile and perhaps cry. One of the finest television shows ever crafted. It taught many of us real-world lessons and morals to live by, but also, it reminds us of a bygone era of innocents, long before the Beatles, assassinations, war, terrorism, political divide, etc... Jerry Mathers is the only one left now. Who knew just how prophetic "Leave it to Beaver" would become. We have indeed, left it all to the "Beev."

How hilarious. I'm 71 and remember watching the show (1957- 1963) when I was a kid. All the characters were realistic and what's really funny, is their reunion parts; they all maintained their persona's perfectly. Just made me laugh! Oh, to be young again and have everything be new and wondrous... Whoever reads this, 60 years happens in the 'wink of an eye'. Enjoy the good things in life and don't let the bad time sidetrack you. It's all fun, if you keep your head on straight!!!
